What do we think of mules?

I'm after a pair of heeled sandals that aren't wedges or too chunky. Mules are everywhere. I'm struggling to get on board. I'd be wearing then with maxi or calf length dresses/skirts and skinny/relaxed skinny jeans. What are thoughts on mules?

So long as not those ones that look like slippers !

joannaplumley · 21/05/2020 15:58

Oh crikey no @Fidgety31, they're awful!

Can you walk in them? Or are they only good for sitting?!

(I'd lose them with every step I take Shock)

reallythislong · 22/05/2020 06:44

I love the look of them but from memory in the 90s they are hard to keep on. Fashion has to also be functional for me now 😔

oldpaint · 22/05/2020 06:53

they look good in photos, but they shoot off while walking. (imhe)

Suzie6789 · 22/05/2020 15:34

Hard to keep on, although they look nice

1forAll74 · 22/05/2020 15:57

I don't like mules at all, they come off all the time, and they make my legs ache at the back with trying to keep them on.

AngeloMysterioso · 22/05/2020 16:54

Just bloody awful. They were awful the first time round and they’re awful now...

Katiepoes · 22/05/2020 17:23

I like them - but have not worn them since one shot off my foot whilst I was climbing the stairs to board a plane. The wretched thing went through onto the ground, I can still see the snarly faces of the people behind me that had to let me go back down. Blush

I also remember my poor toes seemed to be permanently curled trying to hold them, so no, no mules for me.

Josephinah · 22/05/2020 20:50

I hate them

littlemeitslyn · 22/05/2020 21:36

I loved Muffin

Hairydogmummy · 23/05/2020 12:45

I've only had one pair ever and I couldn't walk in them. You're just asking for a sprained ankle.

ThanksForAllTheFish · 23/05/2020 16:53

I like the look of them but can’t walk in them. I really like the Gucci loafer style mules and part of me would love a pair but I know I wouldn’t be able to keep them in my foot or drive in them. I think they would be good as a smart, comfy office shoe but I no longer work in an office.

DoraemonDingDong · 23/05/2020 16:59

As long as they have a solid heel and (if they're open toe'd ones) thick/ substantial upper. I like these, can't struggle with anything more flimsy.

What do we think of mules?
topcat2014 · 23/05/2020 17:05

It is legal to drive in bare feet, and preferable to shoes that come off.

ThanksForAllTheFish · 24/05/2020 23:32

No it’s not legal to drive in bare feet. Hence why I wouldn’t wear mules. I like the look of them but couldn’t drive in them so therefore wouldn’t buy them.

ChaToilLeam · 24/05/2020 23:34

They’ve never been any good on me, I have high arches and they hurt my feet like hell. Wish I could though.
