Bobbi Brown Sandwash pink?

Trying to find a natural lip colour that's a shade darkerthan my real lips and this looks like a good choice.
Slightly olive skin with blue eyes and dark blonde/ highlighted hair.
Is this the holy grail or am I wasting £25?
Any advice welcome.

It looks dreadful on me - the clues in the name -sandwash- it just washes me out.
I'm different colouring to you though - I'm medium golden skin (NC25/3W0), green eyes and level 8 hair with gold/caramel.
It just doesn't have enough oomph in it for me even as a MLBB shade.
It's hard choosing colours in lockdown isn't it?
Maybe there's an app that you could take a picture and try MLBB shades on - anyone?

LunaTheCat · 18/05/2020 08:16

It is my favourite - has been many years.
I am pale skinned and blonde hair.

BlackLabRules · 18/05/2020 08:22

Thank you.
I'm not sure how I work out my colouring but I know too pale makes me look ill. Pillow Talk was dire.

It's one of my favourite everyday lipsticks, have been repeat buying it for years. I'd say it's a good nude with a slight pink undertone.

I have dark hair, blue eyes and pale-ish skin.

JMAngel1 · 18/05/2020 08:47

God I know - Pillow Talk makes me look like I've been dug up! I woukd say SW pink is more pinky than PT but not by much.
Might be better to wait until you can shop IRL.

suze28 · 18/05/2020 08:59

I love it on me but I'm pale (Bobbi Brown warm ivory) with fair hair. I find it similar to MAC Brave.

BlackLabRules · 18/05/2020 11:13

Thanks all. It doesn't sound the right fit and could be an expensive mistake.
I'll carry on with my quest for the perfect MLBB

What's your natural lip shade like? I've found that the Bobbi Brown liquid lip in Hippy Shake works well for me. They have a big range of those and they're £19 so less than the lipsticks.

JMAngel1 · 18/05/2020 12:45

That Hippy Shake looks. ice.
Fiwr me, my MLBB shades have to be more rose than. nude.
I love NYX Best Buds but it's very textured for summer.
On the look out for a lightweight glossy stain for summer in a rosey nude - how does Hippy Shake wear?

peachypetite · 18/05/2020 12:48

Hippy shake is amazing!!

suze28 · 18/05/2020 13:01

I'm definitely rose pink shades as a MLBB shade. L'Oréal 302 is a good one if you're looking at high street prices. Hippy Shake is quite glossy but once the gloss has worn off it's more of a stain but it doesn't last as long as a traditional lipstick would.

JMAngel1 · 18/05/2020 13:05

A stain is exactly what I'm looking for - sorry to hijack thread OP! Now do I chance it without a swatch IRL?!!
I wonder when stores like big Boots, John Lewis etc will be reopening - not sure how much social distancing will be happening in the stampede Grin

suze28 · 18/05/2020 13:11

Swatches show Give a Fig (top) and Hippy Shake (bottom) just applies. Second photo shows them both blotted.

JMAngel1 · 18/05/2020 13:24

Just went on Bobbi Brown website - they have a cool feature where you can try the lip shades on either live or upload a photo. Hippy Shake was actually too pale for me but I saw some others that suited me better. Go have a look - you could try it for sandwash pink.

Now that I've found this, not sure that my DDs are going to get any lunch Grin

JMAngel1 · 18/05/2020 13:25

Suze that is so wierd as Give a Fig was the one that suited me best - mind reader Grin

suze28 · 18/05/2020 13:29

I suit rose shades so Give a Fig is a good one on me. It's a lovely texture too.

Jemimatheragdoll · 18/05/2020 17:33

Charlotte Tilbury's secret salma is another lovely understated pink-can apply with a light touch for a lighter shade (I do bottom lip only then rub lips together for this). This is my other everyday lipstick I keep on repeat.

Jemimatheragdoll · 18/05/2020 17:35

I really like the look of BB desert rose linked earlier-will make a note for when we can shop again

BlackLabRules · 18/05/2020 20:11

Thanks so much for the info.
I've done the live Bobbi Brown thing and Give a Fig looks like a winner. Sandwash and Hippy Shake are too pale for my sallow skin.

I love sand wash. It’s like my natural lip colour but slightly darker. I’m blond and fair skinned but with brown eyes and skin that tans if that helps.

mynamesmrdiggety · 18/05/2020 21:26

Have you tried Clinique nude pop? Or M&S Rosie supermodel smile. They are both use but enough colour not to look like you're in the sixties.

peachypetite · 20/05/2020 05:13

@Jemimatheragdoll me too!

Sarcelle · 20/05/2020 05:34

@mynamesmrdiggety Unfortunately that Rosie for Autograph range has been discontinued
