How Will You Spend Your Money After Lockdown?

Will you spend less or more money on clothes and beauty after lockdown? Has lockdown made you realise that you can manage with less?

I will be:

Having my roots done at the hairdressers less frequently as I am now using a root cover spray

Only having my nails done for special occasions

Not buying clothes every month

I won’t be bothering with gel nails on my fingers anymore as I quite like having natural nails and not having to book in frequent appointments (every 10-14 days or so which I was starting to feel was a bit of a pain) I will be still spending money on gel pedicures though as I enjoy having it done and the gel lasts a lot longer on toes so it’s just something I can book in monthly or even ever 5/6 weeks.

I won’t be spending money on eyebrow tinting as it’s so easy at home.

I will be booking a hair cut in ASAP!

I will be changing to a cheaper hair salon and have already decided which hair style is less maintenance. I won't. be having repeat dermal fillers until next Feb when the beautician has a winter discount.They still look good even though they were done 11 months ago. Yes to a haircut asap lol. When I buy clothes from now on one in one out e.g. buy a top then eBay a top to bring in income. Seeing as the local bra shop may well close down altogether I will purchase bras online as I live too far from a John Lewis. Just the faff of returns if need be.

The first thing I will do is go to my favourite coffee shop (assuming they survive) and spend a morning there.

Beyond that, a lot depends on whether I keep my job or not, but if I do, I will hopefully have saved up a stash which I will spend on something lovely that I can't normally afford.

I will buy as much as possible from independent shops, especially the ones that have gone the extra mile with services like home deliveries.

I'll carry on learning to sew and, if I can get past my ghastly childhood memories of needlework classes, I may enrol on a course.

I may not get my hair cut quite as often as, so far, it's not looking quite as bad as I expected.

I want a decent wax!

My bathroom annoyed me before I had to see it (and no others) every, single, day - I have a full basket on diy.com

It turns out that DH is really good at cutting my hair, his Mum was a hairdresser and I'm thinking some of the knowledge must have rubbed off. Not that my hair is much of a challenge, it's long and straight. DH can even do the shaping round the front and good highlights too.

Who knew? 🤷🏼‍♀️

So I'll be going to the hairdresser probably once a year from now on, for a treat.

I've discovered that I can do my own brows and I've always done my own manicures and pedicures.

Hair removal is sorted, I bought a Smoothe Skin and it's brilliant.

I've got a NuFace and a micro needling thing so I won't be spending anything on facials.

I'm thinking of having Botox and fillers after the initial stampede has subsided but then, I've been thinking about that for a while.

Lockdown has given me time to go through my clothes. There isn't anything much that I need so I'm making a short list of garments I love to keep my wardrobe updated. I'm going to choose well and do my absolute best to buy ethically.

Then I'm going to save some of the money I haven't spent on clothes and eventually buy some really good bespoke jewellery. I've had time to look around and design some pieces that I want.

Well that was more comprehensive than I intended

I will spend less on things like shoes and clothes. I would spend more on becoming independent of things like gyms, facialists, etc. I haven't yet dared to dye my hair at home, but will want to learn how to mix and apply it properly. I think apart from that I want to spend more on new experiences that I have been putting off, rather than buying things.

@ThatShallot - you are so lucky! I would love to get my hair cut.

@AnaViaSalamanca - I'm cutting down on buying clothes and shoes too. Any money I save goes towards my holiday which will be next year now.

I'm going to spend more on treatments like facials and massage that actually impact my sense of well-being but probably less on clothes

@gardenerflowers I'm happy to lend DH out for hair cuts, I don't think he can do a full restyle but who knows? He's surprised me with his layering and his colouring skills are good

@louisethedisease I've been using my NuFace twice a day for just over a month I bought it not long after the start of lockdown and I can't see any difference so far. Though I'm not sure how long before you're supposed to see results?

OTOH microneedling does show immediate results but they don't seem to last.

Which is a long way of saying that the jury is still out on the NuFace.

If it had already worked I was going to buy one of the small NuFace gadgets for fine lines. If the one I have shows results I will definitely buy the fine line version. Before I bought it I read lots of reviews and they were mixed, people either say 'wow it's amazing, buy one now' or 'no it doesn't work'. I wonder whether it depends on skin type, age and colouring? I'm on the fence and prepared to persevere with it for a while longer before deciding for sure.
