Chanel handbags?

Do you have a Chanel handbag? I’ve been after one for years and have decided to save up and get myself one.

I will go for the classic medium 2.55 bag, I think.

So for those of you who have one, do you love it? Was it worth the cost?

Have to say the service in store was fabulous. Was worried on the way there that they wouldn’t even let us inbut they did and the assistant was great. Got so many bags out for me to try and offered to check other stores when there was one I liked but in a colour I didn’t like.

I’d quite like the quilted backpack but will stick to the more affordable brands and maybe I’ll grow into the chanel.

Chanel have just been increasing the prices of bags - by 25% in some cases Shock They go up pretty regularly (although not usually that much) so if you still want to buy one I’d do so sooner rather than later!

“If you’re a fan of Boy Bags, take a sigh of relief because the changes there were the lowest, with a 4-5% change. However, the classics were hit hardest, with a 25% change at the high end for the Mini Square Flap Bag. The rest of the Classics saw around a 14-17% increase with the Small Classic Flap and Reissue 224 seeing a 21% increase.“

Personally I am not a fan of the boy bags but that is because they don't go with my style. They don't hold their re-sell value either if that is a concern.

Personally I buy bags and use them but I know some people do care a lot about 'value'.

Be aware OP, the flap bag has VERY little internal space. All that inner compartment and flap business means you can't get anything with bulk in there eg some some sunglass cases or fat wallets

I have the Black Lambskin 2.55 Reissue Medium Flap Bag with Gold Hardware and I absolutely love it.

I don't use it every day, but I don't save it for best either.

See the boy bag has really caught my eye at the moment. I’m not that fussed about re-sell value as I plan on keeping it until I’m old.

Fantastical beautiful bag 🥰

I think the boy bag is my favourite style, plenty of room in it and looks fresh!

And as a PP said, it doesn't have a full chain strap so it's comfortable Smile

ShesDoesntEvenGoHere My lambskin medium Boy and caviar Boy Woc are two Chanel's that I use regularly, alongside my totes. Classic flap and 2.55 rarely get an outing as they don't seem to fit with my style now but I've had them for years and they're lovely pieces to have in my collection.

Mam has two, a big one in cream and a small one in Blue, both with chain straps.
The two bags are stunning.

The Boy bag has a lot more usable space. I find it a bit younger and fresher too tbh. My 2.55s and re-issue rarely see the light of day but I drag my Boys out any old time. They seem to be more adaptable and go with scruffy casual outfits really well. And they hold my stuff better

Brilliant. I’m pleased the boy has mostly good reviews!

I’ve been looking at some ‘preloved’ (second hand Grin) ones and I think I’m going to bite the bullet sooner rather than later.

Can anyone recommend a reputable preloved Hmm site?

Can’t say preloved without feeling awfully pretentious Grin

Farfetch are reputable but they don't seem to have many Boy bags in stock, plenty of the classic flap bags though. And also loads of cute accessories I want want want gahhh!
Also wondering when I will be considered classy enough to wear a full Chanel tweed suit hmm 🧐 😂

I have the caviar jumbo single flap with silver hardware, bought it 11 years ago for £1400 tax free. I love it because I saved for it and it's a classic. Do I use it? Not a lot.

I have 10. Classic 2.55 , WoC’s and Boy. If I compare it to a Dior ( not sure comparable) I always tend to veer towards the Chanels. Love them! Although depending on where you live I see almost every 3rd person in Belgravia and Chelsea ( I don’t live in these areas but frequent them) carry a Chanel. And my friend and I were just discussing this a few months ago that although we love ours not sure we’ll be buying more. Sad

The weight of them puts me off as an everyday bag. The chain weighs a ton. I do like them but prefer other brands.

I love Chanel, I have god knows how many!!

I had the boy bag and sold it as it’s really heavy and structured, it doesn’t have the softness of the reissue , which is my favourite. It goes with everything , like everything .
MrsCampbell I actually didn’t lose any money on my boy bag, I think I made a tiny profit, maybe because I bought it when they first came out and sold it a year later after the prices went up.

The new 19 bag looks amazing, but I’ve seen it on so many influencers I’m worried it would get outdated pretty soon.

The Gabrielle is on my list, it’s not too out there with the gram people, I’m seriously considering one. It looks like a proper grownup day bag.

So nice to chat about Chanel with no posts from the Anti bag police Wink

Oh Collector Square is very good for Chanel and Hermes, I sold some bags with them, you can actually go to their shop in Paris and see the bags yourself.
Also there is a site called timeless Luxuries, they have an Instagram page and a website, they are Aussie based, I haven’t used them, they do have an amazing inventory , but you need to be quick,
every time I want to get something , it gets sold instantly!

I've recently bought a classic flap in black lamb skin and gold hardware, I love it however it's now a running joke at home that I've wanted one for ages, bought the bloody thing and it's never left the house as I got it on last work trip to London before covid really took hold! I am trying to look on the positive side that prices have increased quite a bit since I got it a few months ago so small mercies and all!
In my case it is something I've wanted for a long time and I'm not worried about re-sale values and such as it will be a classic item I keep - now time to think about the Hermes!

A medium Boy bag, black calfskin and silver toned hardware is probably around 3750
I checked last July (needed for insurance) and that was the price but they've stopped showing the price on the app now for some reason.

Thanks Sarah. I think it’s because of the price hike. I didn’t know there was an app Shock
