Dyson air wrap

Is it worth it? Hubby was going to treat me to one at Christmas. I was uncomfortable with the cost and asked on here and people recommended the Parlux range. So I have a Parlux hairdryer now which I love but I keep seeing the gorgeous ringlets at the bottom hair dos on people and when I ask, it's from the dyson air wrap. Anyone have one?

I love mine, but I also bought the corrale straightener they bought out so I'll be popping my air wrap on eBay, I can't justify keeping both and I get much better curls from the straightener than I ever did with the airwrap.

It did put my hair back in to amazing condition and my hair has grown a lot since I switched to Dyson products.

holidayheadache · 20/05/2020 23:23

I'm so tempted by this. Am I right in thinking I can return to Dyson within 30 days even if it's just because I don't like it?!

carrottopper · 20/05/2020 23:48

What happens to these returned items? Cleaned and sold as new?

I want something that will get my hair in better condition and is faff free enough that I could curl it for work - mid length fine frizzy bob - would the corrale be better?

TranquilityofSolitude · 21/05/2020 08:52

Dyson have an "Outlet Store" online where they sell their refurbished stock.

pinkrocker · 21/05/2020 10:02

Is that on eBay?

workshy44 · 21/05/2020 10:15

Whats the corrale straightener like ? better than a GHD ?

RichTea432 · 21/05/2020 10:16

To those that have this: if you are buying the complete set, theres an option for long barrel. I gather this is just for longer hair types, does the normal complete set cater for longer hair just as well?? My hair is to my shoulders or just above normally. Hesitating to commit to a long barrel if I don't need to with my length!

jammydodgerz · 21/05/2020 10:39

@RichTea432 I was wondering this too. Mine is the same length but thick so think I'm going to go for the longer barrel. Can't hurt I'd imagine

Happydaysforever123 · 21/05/2020 10:44

I bought the complete set from dyson direct, I sent it back as didn't find it any good for my hair. I got to keep it for up to 35 days and the postage was paid both ways.
I've got collarbone hair, inclined to frizz. I found the smoothing brush didn't give me as smooth a finish as a normal hairdryer and brush. The curls looked nice for about an hour then fell out. It was hard to get a beachy wave, it did tend to give a more dated looking curl. I looked at lots of youtube videos, but just didn't get the same effects myself.

Now the dyson hairdryer I love, definitely easier to get a smooth finish.

carrottopper · 21/05/2020 11:06

My root tends to be frizzy and fuzzy but the rest is pretty straight. Would it smooth my roots?

@richtea432 I bought the longer barrels separately, they are so much better for my hair (thick, just past shoulders). I only got the 30mm but a going to buy the 40mm also at some point. I try not to think about how much I have spent on the AW as I also bought the round brush attachment separately as when I bought mine the only one I could find was the control version.

In fairness it's the only tool I use for my hair, I probably haven't used straighteners in a year.

pinkrocker · 21/05/2020 12:33

@workshy44 did you mean the coriolis one? It's way better than my GHDs. Less draggy.

workshy44 · 21/05/2020 12:45

Yes sorry. I have the Airwrap but really haven't got the hang of it and the straightening brushes are fine but not GHD standard- so was thinking maybe sell it and get the coriolis

pinkrocker · 21/05/2020 13:18

I'd get the coriolis, it makes amazing long lasting curls (as long as you know how) and is also really great for straightening. Mine was £50 from a local hairdresser, it's red and black leopardskin print with 3 heat settings.

OLittleTownofBethlehem · 21/05/2020 13:52

Have a look at the refurbished ones direct from Dyson
www.dyson.co.uk/dyson-outlet.html#hair-care

jammydodgerz · 23/05/2020 16:50

I caved and bought an Airwrap the other day. It arrived yesterday and I've used it twice. Have to say I'm impressed! My hair is thick with a natural wave but is generally a bit unloved as I'm so crap at doing it. The Airwrap dries it quickly and whilst curls are a bit fiddly it's even with MY terrible abilities Grin

Still not convinced it's worth the eye watering cost, but I'm already falling in love with it so unlikely it'll go back within the returns window.

My hair is so swishy and soft now!

@RichTea432 I have bra strap length hair and the normal length barrels are fine for me.

MrsPerfect12 · 23/05/2020 17:10

I bought one last night so I'm excited to try it. I'm really hoping my curls hold as it take me forever to curl with a normal wand.

Fiddlersgreen · 23/05/2020 17:16

@jammydodgerz that looks lovely!

jammydodgerz · 23/05/2020 17:19

Thanks @Fiddlersgreen - it's far from perfect but having never been able to get anything close to it with wand or straighteners, I'm quietly impressed with myself Grin

carrottopper · 23/05/2020 18:02

It looks great!

OP posts:
RichTea432 · 23/05/2020 19:49

This is really making me want one 🙈

AmethystMoonShine · 23/05/2020 21:27

I was very fortunate to get one from my parents for my birthday (they don’t usually spend that much!) and I love it. I’ve only had it a week but have managed curls and a normal blow dry. I definitely need some you tube tutorials though as I don’t really know what I’m doing! Blush great so far though, light and fairly quiet.

wizzbangfizz · 26/05/2020 11:51

I'm definitely going to go for it but have another type question - I've fairly flat fine hair - should I go for the volume and shape? Or just get the full shebang?
