Dyson air wrap

Is it worth it? Hubby was going to treat me to one at Christmas. I was uncomfortable with the cost and asked on here and people recommended the Parlux range. So I have a Parlux hairdryer now which I love but I keep seeing the gorgeous ringlets at the bottom hair dos on people and when I ask, it's from the dyson air wrap. Anyone have one?

I love mine. I can do my hair in 5 minutes now with the hard smoothing attachment. My hair is fine and wavy, I'll never go back to using a separate hairdryer and brush.

Yes..... 100 times yes. Not to be dramatic but I got one for Christmas and it’s honestly changed my life. It takes a while to get the hang of using it but once you’ve got the hang of it it’s fantastic. I use the curling function most as they’re really big bouncy curls so make my hair look and feel like I’ve just had a professional curly blow dry

I like a bit of lift at the roots but the other main thing I use it for is to smooth it out.

The curl barrels are good for that too - if you lift up the section of hair at the parting and put the barrel flat on your head under the hair and blast for a few seconds. If that make sense.

Can you get the big bouncy curls with both the air wraps or just the complete set. So confused! Wondering if I should get the full set

Big bouncy curls come from the barrels for me, but I’ve got thick frizzy hair and I think you mentioned you’ve got fine hair?

Report

The curls are from the barrel which only comes in the full set I think. That’s the only one I really use (except for the actual hair dryer if I’m in a rush) but they don’t sell the barrels on their own unfortunately

Thank you. Such a costly item isn't it. Thanks for your help. Yes my hair is fine but I have lots of it

The complete is only £50 more than the airwrap.

You can get interest free credit on the Dyson website too.

I should have got this one and saved my £50 as I use the round brush and soft smoothing brush most days.

I use the hairdryer, hard brush and the round brush most days. The large barrels for when I want curls. I had to get the full set to get all that!

Where are all the pictures??

@carrottopper you're hair sounds a lot like mine...I'll be waiting for your review! ☺️

I use all attachments and it’s incredible. I use the dryer to dry roots then finish off with brush for a big and brushed look (natural) or I then section off and curl with the barrels if I fancy that. I also use the round brush to dry my fringe or flick parts of hair if I need. I rarely use my straighteners, I even gave my hairdryer away separately as I never ever used it.

I think it’s brilliant, it does take some time to get used to, but worth watching YouTube videos if you need to, and playing around. I do find sometimes my roots are a bit fuzzy and sometimes have to use a straighter right at the root to smooth, but actually with the right shampoos I don’t often need to! BUY IT!

If I can't use the straighteners to curl my hair, will I be able to use this? I've been watching YouTube videos and it looks easy, but then so do the videos using a straightener! Will it give me the glam love island curls?

carrot I cannot curl my hair with straighteners at all but I can curl my hair with the air wrap with no problems at all. If you can afford it, buy one!!

Have dug mine out again after this thread and now have flippy hair for the first time in months :)

You won't ever find a discount, but you can buy it from boots when (if ever) a points event is on. It's when I bought mine and I got ££ of points.

Dyson are selling longer barrels now. Separately. I took the bait. Will report back.

I would love one! I have almost waist length half-head highlighted hair. Thick and frizzy wavy and takes ages to dry naturally.
But....I'm a sucker for the latest hair gadgets, I've had the babyliss curl secret 1 and 2 which sucks your hair in and gives you beautiful curls allegedly. All it did for me was give me a head of frizz, curls that dropped anyway and aching shoulders.
I've had ionic hairdryers that promise to calm frizz, they don't.
I've bought hair products that claim to give you sleek, shiny hair again, nope!
I'm an advertiser's dream, I clutch at straws promising me everything and I'm always disappointed!
My coriolis straighteners give me the longest lasting curls (way better than GHDs) and they'll last for days and they were only £50!

But I still want a Dyson Grin

carrottopper · 20/05/2020 22:21

I still haven't purchased it...yet! I really want to as it looks so easy, but I feel like it will never work like that for me. It's not that I can't afford to buy it, but it just seems so expensive and I had a new parlux hair dryer at Christmas and bought the Revlon hot brush in February. I don't really have many hair tools apart from those and my ghds but still finding it hard to justify.

How about a try before you buy, I'd do that !

DH and DS clubbed together to buy me one for Christmas the year before last. Hands down the best present they have ever bought me. I love it. It is precious to me because I wasn't expecting anything so extravagant, and it was the last Christmas we all had together, so I am dreading it breaking.
