In between length hair

I've always had short hair. It's now about the longest it's been since I was a kid and the lack of a regular trim due to lockdown is really showing.
I had a layered choppy bob that was quite shaped into that back of my neck but it's now really grown and my bottom layer is probably an inch or so below my chin.
My hair isn't long enough to put up but is feeling pretty wild. Does anyone have any suggestions for things I can do with it pto stop it looking so unruly?
I'm hopeless with puptting hair which is why I've always kept it short and in an easy to manage style so I don't know where to start.

Maybe a hair band, something like this.

Is it long enough to do a half up , half down? If not then a nice band as pP suggests

Its long enough for some sort of half up and half down but the back is too short for it all to go up. Honestly, I'm so clueless...

Is it long enough to do a wave with a curling irons now? X

I also have (had) a short cut and am well overdue a cut. I live in half up half down, if particularly greasy Blush I tie it all up and use about 1000 Bobby pins to hold the back up

Sarah - I wouldn't have a clue how to do that to be honest. My hair is quite fine and lank which is why a short layered bob is normally my friend. I'm such a creature of habit with my hair.
If anyone has any suggestions or pics I'd be so grateful:)

Could you do a low ponytail? You could clip anything that doesn’t reach

When your hair is wet, separate it into sections, twist them and pin to your head. Let it dry then let the twists out, run your fingers through but don't use a brush. It will give you a nice messy wave.
