Excess makeup products- WWYD?

A bit ashamed to admit I have a massive high end makeup “collection”. It’s ridiculous- I wouldn’t be surprised if I had 100 lip products

I even have brand new eyeshadow palettes that I haven’t touched, I just gravitate towards my favourites so the rest is excessive.

I think it’s time to downsize and declutter but throwing it away seems wasteful. What would you do with powder products that have only been used once or twice and are otherwise clean and in date? I would like to donate them but not sure if these items would be accepted?

Obviously I’d throw anyway anything gross or inherently unhygienic like liquid products, lip gloss etc.

No charity will take items that have been used.

Have you any younger female relatives who would like them?

Is any of it Mac? They do (pre covid) back to Mac where you take in 6 empties (they don’t have to be really empty) and you get a free lipstick. It’s a recycling thing. You could gift the new lipstick.

Women's shelters do take used products xx

Caroline Hirons blog gives a couple of options of 'lightly' used makeup donation centres. I sent a box a while ago, there were a few restrictions (can't remember what they were but just check her blog).

I’ve sent a box of items as well using the details on Caroline Hiron’s site. I sent it to Cardiff I think. It was to one of the big online retailers, maybe Look Fantastic.

Otherwise you could try via Women’s Aid perhaps. I did that with lots of baby and toddler items. I must say it wasn’t easy to organise

I have sold lightly used palettes on eBay. It is against the rules but people do it.

What made you buy each item? Sometimes you're just looking for that Holy Grail and something comes along that you think might be "it"
Or a 3for 2 or a GWP.
There might be some very similar ones -keep them for when your old favourites are finished .

Though with lipsticks and mascaras they go off after a while .

I have a few nudey/pink lippies that I must've wanted ( I am trying I think to replicate my Wedding Lipstick but IRL , I don't wear lipstick) Most expensive is a TooFaced one . I think the other ( mainly NYX) can go out and I'll keep the TFace.

I’d be very surprised, post COVID19, if anywhere took donations of items not clearly new and unused.

If it's not touched for 72 hours after sending it will be virus free anyway.
