Facial Scars

I’ve recently had a skin cancer excision on my forehead - can’t use anything on it just yet until the stitches are healed, but once it’s looking better I need to find a good oil to massage into it to make it look a little better

Can anyone recommend a good oil to use? Used bio oil on a previous scar and wasn’t too impressed.

I have a skin cancer removed from side of the nose and my surgeon recommended rosehip oil and it worked! The combination of his skills and my rubbing at least twice a day did the trick.
It might stain as it is yellow so be careful

Thanks, I’ll take a look at that!

I’ve quite sensitive skin too so want a few options to try, heard Vitamin E is decent for scarring

Medical studies have proven rosehip efficacy www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/30199901
but not for vitamin E on the contrary it might make things worse

I had plastic surgery on my face a few years ago to remove the remnants of a large cyst post infection. I was left with a thin surgical scar instead of the 50p sized raised blotch I had before! I used dermatix silicon gel on the recommendation or an cosmetic surgeon friend. Worked a treat. Scar faded beautifully and was almost invisible after about a year.

I have a 3 month old scar on my forehead also from an incision with 6 stitches. Did the surgeon give you antibiotic ointment to use daily for a week/10 days after? Advice to me was to keep a layer of ointment over it so it didn't dry out.

As soon as the stitches were out and the scab was starting to flake I used Skin Sheald from Victoria Health and the scar is virtually invisible. For daytime, now that the weather is warmer, I am going to get some silicone scar strips to stick over it during the day to protect it from the sun.
