Please can anyone direct me to shops/websites that would suit a 5ft 2" size 14 top/16 bottom pear shape?
I want to invest in better stuff so a step up from the usual high st shops but not designer ifyswim.
Everywhere I look assumes petite means petite all over but I have a massive bum and mega chunky legs.
I want good quality tee shirts/tank tops. Denim shirts. Wide leg or bootcut trousers/jeans.
I like plain stuff and colours like white/grey/black/blue.
I've looked at Wallis/dotty p /Topshop /m&s /next/Boden.
If anyone can help I would be beyond grateful.

Seasalt and Boden, I think boden petite only go up to a 14 but sea salt definitely dont

Pyjamasarethenewblack · 10/05/2020 19:30

Thank you. That's the price point I'm aiming for but I'm looking for plainer items. I don't want the colourful prints. A stripe is about as crazy as I like to get!

Cos, arket, h and m, m&s and plain items from seasalt as their quality is v good. It's not going to be one stop shop you have to browse and pick what suits you.
Use filters to narrow down your search by colour, size.and sometimes even fabric.

HonestOpinion10 · 11/05/2020 06:29

Also, just because you arr 5ft 2 doesnt mean you must wear petite. You may have a regular torso or regular legs. You can get magic hem and shorten items.

Jenasaurus · 11/05/2020 06:31

Is Wallis still around because I think they do some lovely clothes for the fuller figure (like mine)

HonestOpinion10 · 11/05/2020 06:40

Universal standards is very good but more expensive. You might find the occasional gem in asos among all the polyester.

Pyjamasarethenewblack · 11/05/2020 09:21

Thank you!

Honest that's a good suggestion to narrow down the search. I didn't think of that 😳 My torso is regular but I have short arms and very short legs (inside measurement 25"). So you're right, I could be looking at regular short sleeve tops.

If you don't mind paying high postage costs, the American brand Ann Taylor, and Ann Taylor Petite may be what you are looking for. You would need to buy 2 sizes smaller than in British clothes.

Have a look at Hush. I'm about your height and size and I've found their clothes really flattering. You need to size down (eg size small in a t shirt if a size 14 normally) if you want them to be more fitted rather than slouchy.

I know it's not very popular on MN but I wouldn't discount Evans. There's an Evans store in our local Tesco. I'm 5'4 and 14 and have had a few lovely pieces from there.

OP I’m similar to you, 5ft2, old, same kind of sizes, look again at Seasalt, I’ve got these trousers and I bloody live in them, they’re comfortable, look great – no pattern! – lovely fabric. I’ve got them in the reg not the petite and they’re like a full length wide-leg on me. I’m seriously thinking of getting them in every colour (I would if I didn’t have a ton of clothes to throw out first!).

I wouldn't count on H&M for anything other than cheap basics.

I'm a similar size and they are not made for short people, let alone short and curvy. Their clothes best suit tall, slim people. Lots of baggy items which just make shorties look like a pudding child!

Pyjamasarethenewblack · 11/05/2020 12:29

You lot are brilliant. Thank you so much 😊
onalongsabbatical those trousers are exactly what I want! Apologies to slipperyeel for discounting Seasalt so quickly.
Off to investigate Hush and Ann Taylor now.
