Hair - rat tails!

I have straggly hair...it is long (a sprinkle of grey). I am absolutely hopeless with doing anything with it...I wash, comb it and let it dry. Is there an easy way to make it look more cohesive? So it all waves together (maybe like Kate Middleton) Is there a ’thing’ I could have done at the hairdresser to make this happen (I don’t really ‘do’ hairdressers normally!) I’ve tried a babyliss big rolling drier but can’t get the hang of it. Thanks!

You need to style it if you want it to look like that! Blow dry and curling ring if you want waves.

It may be that it needs to be trimmed.
I haven't had my hair trimmed in a while and my ends are looking tired but Revlons Vollumiser makes my ends look dreamy and healthy.
