Home hair dye newbie

I've been having my hair dyed by the hairdresser for about 8 years. I'm looking to change to a home dye in the current climate. I'm naturally black hair with lots of grey and have it dyed a chestnut brown. Any recommendations on what dye and colour might be closest to my normal chestnut colour? Do I need special equipment? How do I avoid dyeing my entire bathroom? Do I need to by two boxes to do a colour test first? Is one box enough for shoulder length hair? Thanks for any help!Smile

I used Carol NicenEasy a week or so ago and it was easy. Everything was in the box, very clear instructions, not too messy- just have an old towel to hand. No need to buy two boxes- patch test by using a small amount from both bottles. My hair is above shoulders, but I had plenty of dye, so unless yours is very thick I think one box would be fine.
