L'Oréal excellence hair dye

I'm naturally brown haired but now I'm going grey at the roots have dyed my hair the L'Oréal excellence dark blonde. What is the shade one step lighter than this? The grey is still showing against the dark blonde so I wondered about going a shade lighter.

Go by the numbers. The dark blonde looks to be a 7 so to go a shade lighter you need to be looking at an 8. There's an 8, an 8.1 and an 8.3. Not quite sure what the differences are between the 3 but 8.1 is billed as Ash blonde, 8 as Natural blonde and 8.3 as Natural golden blonde. I think any of those would be OK or you could just put a root dye on. I use the Clairol root touch up in a 7 - dark blonde - and if you leave on for 15 mins it's pretty good at covering the greys.
