Highlighted people.... anyone wanting to go back to natural?

My hair is naturally mousy... my hairdresser says it's dark blonde but it looks dark to me!

I do have highlights every 8 weeks usually but after Lockdown I don't think it'll look very good if I continue to have it so blonde...there will be a big line of dark still.

Ideally I'd like it to be Heidi Klum/Jennifer Anniston colour,or an ombré look.

I think it will look dreadful if I just let it grow out though. Will have to see what my hairdresser suggest.

Anyone else planning to change from highlights?

I feel your pain. I have naturally darkish brown hair but have a brown tint with lots of caramel highlights put in every 10 weeks to blend in the greys.

Everything has faded now so the base colour has gone a brassy light brown that is blending into the highlight colour and it all looks awful. I'm so tempted to stick an all-over brown box colour on it and then just keep covering my roots until the hairdresser is open again. I think that's probably a safer plan than attempting to do anything more complicated myself!

I need blonde highlights to cover my grey and blend it at the roots. I'm wearing a lot of head bands at the moment!

My hairdresser usually does my foils then applies my root colour around the foils and all the rest of my hair to catch any greys so you could have this done to avoid a stripe.

Lurking try a blue shampoo. Another poster suggested it to me its great www.lookfantastic.com/matrix-total-results-brass-off-brunette-neutralising-blue-shampoo-for-lightened-brunette-hair-300ml/11488372.html

Op no I'm sticking with highlights but might go for a darker toner

Mine is super curly so although I have roots they aren't that noticeable .. I was white blonde until I was about 20 so feel it's my colour . I do think people with dark brown hair look a bit daft with brown eyebrows and bleached hair but each to their own .. my eyebrows are still really white blonde and I'm fair with blue eyes. My hairdresser says my natural colour now is dirty blonde and I prefer the lift of highlights ( plus it covers the grey ) 🙈

I started growing mine out about 6 months ago. Not going to lie - the first 6 months was hard ie badger-tastic. However now it looks more balayage/ombre as my natural colour is dark blonde.

I will get a tiny bit of balayage round the front when I've grown these out - I want a bit of a lift around the face - but going too blonde for too long has messed up the texture, and the undyed hair is so much healthier.

I am going to try and grow them out, I might even try a box colour in my own hair shade, which is, I thought mousey brown but against the light blond highlights look darker, I could kick myself, I went last year without salon highlights for around 11 months, only doing the top layers, myself which I have done for years between salon visits, but carved in last september before a holiday, last time I had them done was Jan this year, so wish me luck.
