Bleached my hair and need some help!

So I bleached my hair using Schwarzkopf Vario Blonde Super Plus. I bleached it twice. My hair was originally at a level 1 (dark South Asian hair!). I've previously had it balayaged but that grew out a lot prior to bleaching.

I used the Schwarzkopf BlondMe toner in Ice and it literally did nothing......I did use it with a 30 developer though....would that have made it ineffective?

but anyway....I want to go for an icy look and have ordered Wella T18 - do you think this will be okay?

Also in terms of the different shades should I just leave it as I don't want to bleach properly again? Is it worth just bleaching the really orange parts (but it's quite hard to pick just those spots as there are a lot) or doing a bleach bath?

Also any recommendations for a shampoo? Used Fanola No Yellow and Matrix Brass Off and both did nothing :)

Any advice would be greatly appreciated! xxxx

You will need to bleach it more to get an icy look. T18 will not work on the shade you have it will literally do nothing. I'm not even sure if T14 would do anything on that shade. For T18 to work your hair needs to be very blonde as in a pale yellow. You'll need to bleach it probably 2 more times to get the result you want. Your hair will be fried tho. Honestly it will probably snap. Always go to a salon to go blonde. I've bleached my hair in the past I ended up having to get it cut short.

@Flower1309 how many lift levels do you thinj I am from the required shade? I was thinking of doing a bleach bath to lift 1-2 shades?

What made you think it was a good idea to try get icy blond from dark Asian hair at home during a lockdown when no salons are open??
I really wouldn't bleach it any more, you'll kill it

Doyoumind · 05/05/2020 15:04

Surely you would be better with purple shampoo from this point in.

PseudoCream02 · 05/05/2020 15:07

You have to use a developer with the toner otherwise it wont do anything, T18 will work, it will get rid of the yellow tones for sure, but you'll end up with two slightly different tones between the lightest streaks and the current yellow ones. Should look lovely when done. Finish off with a shadow root too.

PseudoCream02 · 05/05/2020 15:08

And use 2% developer not 6%, which I assume is what you mean by 30?

winterisstillcoming · 05/05/2020 15:11

I'd see how your hair goes for a bit before you bleach it any further. It might start to snap. Consider olapex as well, and try not to cause any heat damage. It might need a lot of TLC

justastudent · 05/05/2020 15:23

Thanks. I don’t mind having different tones I’m just more concerned as to whether or not the toner will work.

I used 30 developer which I think is 9% (my hair is extremely thick!) so would I be better off using 6% or 3%??

Thanks!

I used two different purple shampoos and there was no colour change :(

I used olaplex while bleaching and was going to ise the next steps of it after I’d finished the bleaching stages. Hopefully it will help!

@justastudent at least another 2 or levels, toner and purple shampoo only work on blonde hair they won't work on dark or hair that's still too orange. Going blonde from black isn't an overnight process. Leave it as it use masks and conditioner and come back to it with bleach after a few months.

Flower1309 · 05/05/2020 19:40

Also a bleach bath may or may not work. I've never done one but I doubt it will do much to the darker shades in your hair.

justastudent · 05/05/2020 20:51

@Flower1309 hm i might just colour it to a dark blonde/v light brunette in that case but thank you

Icy toners won't work as your hair isn't light enough. Don't bleach it again though.
You could try a darker toner if you want to take some of the yellow tones out of it

aWeaponCalledtheWord · 05/05/2020 22:43

i have naturally dark mouse hair and use schwarzkopf Absolute Platinum 00A and it lifts my hair in one go to white blonde.

if your hair can stand it, it might be worth a shot.

disclaimer: i am not a hairdresser!

Id just wear a good quality wig these days there are many good tutorials 9n how to make it look nice and less fake.

lpchill · 06/05/2020 07:38

As others have said you'll need to bleach again but I would personally leave it as long as you can ie at least a week and deep condition as much as you can. Then I would do a bleach bath less harmful and perfect for lifting 1-2 levels then you can use the toner

swampusdonkus · 06/05/2020 11:31

Hi OP, I bleached my hair but from mid-brown. I had to do it in stages, so it was very orange for a month then I re-did it and it lifted further.

I'd also recommend Olaplex products to maintain the condition of bleached hair. They won't help with lifting the blonde but do amazing work on improving the condition of your hair. I use no. 3 and no. 6 and it has worked wonders on strengthening my hair, whereas previously it was rough and brittle.

I personally have found purple shampoos don't help much in trying to obtain a platinum colour so maybe try a purple toner too.

justastudent · 06/05/2020 13:18

@swampusdonkus thanks! I’ve just ordered the Olaplex 2 and 3 so hopefully they will help

I went from dark red to icy blond last week. Used a Toni & guy repair mask (£3 from amazon!) every other day the week before though. I used colourless go blonde (took 4 boxes-2 Monday and 2 Friday), John Frieda violet crush shampoo and a purple toning hair masque I found in home bargains. Not sure they’ve helped much though. Hair is shiny, soft and there’s no obvious signs of damage to it so I’d get a good mask on there regularly before dying it any more. But if your hair will take it I’d give it another box, mine looked like yours before boxes 3&4.

justastudent · 07/05/2020 00:42

@Thenthatsthatthen going to run out and get those tomorrow!
