Does anyone use Molecule 01?

I ordered a bottle after smelling the fragrance on my friend.
It smelled beautiful; stunningly light and fresh on her.

I've worn it today and I cannot smell a thing on myself.

I know it doesn't have a scent, but surely I should smell it on me once it settles down?

Can anyone help? Have I got a dud? Confused

That's the point of it. You generally can't smell it on yourself but only on others. Some people can, but not many.

I was intrigued and bought some. When I wear it I eventually get a cypress smell, a but citrusy and sharp but I have no idea what or if anyone else can smell it. It lingers on me for a very long time and I only use a very little bit. Didn’t graduate to layering with anything. In fact I forgot about it until I saw your post.

I’d never heard of it! Just read up and it’s intriguing for sure. It sounds a bit emperor’s new clothes though- £80 on a perfume you can’t smell??

It's a perfume that is meant to 'adapt' to the uniqueness of the person and supposedly smells different on different people. When I smelled it on my friend I just thought she smelled lovely but didn't recognise it as molecule that I wore myself!

I can smell it on myself when I have just put it on, but it's a subtle scent and my experience is that it's wearing off during the day. That's not the experience of others though, as I've had many compliments from others about it even when I think it has worn off. I have just run out of it and am now trying Santal 33. I will definitely go back to molecule 01 after though!

I too am confused by this scent!

Originally bought a sample from eBay. Loved it on me (v woodsy, unisex, herbaceous) but it was definitely very subtle. Got SO many compliments I started to believe the hype!

Then bought another sample (different seller, again with 100% positive feedback) and it smelled of nothing. Neither I nor anyone I asked could detect it on me at all.

Bought third sample (another different seller) and it's stronger than other two and recognisably the same scent as the first one but with an absolutely rank chemical note which I'd never detected before.

Don't know what the bloody stuff smells like 🤯

It's baffling and I've spent £72 on it! Blush

I know that it's meant to be really light and that only others can smell it on you but I thought that, because I could smell it on my friend I'd (at least) be able to smell 'that' smell on me.
Got that? Grin

In terms of layering, I'm just wondering if there's another fragrance out there that pairs well with or enhances the smell of the molecule.

I'm very confused. I don't know if I'm putting enough on or anything.
Bloody fragrance.

I had a sample from a reputable perfume shop. Don't understand the hype, didn't get any compliments, couldn't smell it. :)

I LOVE it. My Dad also wears it. It smells really strong on him and he gets comments all the time.
It smells different on me and not everyone can smell it. I have one friend who can’t smell it all all but I do get comments when I wear it. It’s a weird concept to get your head round when you think it smells strong and others can’t smell it at all!

@Wilmalovescake I feel like we're both in the same state of confusion Grin

I want to layer to see if the different fragrance brings out more of the molecule 'scent'. To see if the fragrance itself smells different when mixed with molecule...
So a mini experiment.

I'm a bit pissed off after googling to find that someone made their own Molecule01 with ever clear and Iso E Super for a fraction of a cost. That'll teach me for impulse lockdown shopping.

That's a good test actually. See if someone can smell it from 6ft away..

Ooooo, I want this! I followed a school mum around the playground like a piglet on a string last term, totally mesmerised by her scent, before I plucked up the courage to ask her (fierce alpha mum). Haven't had a chance to try since, as want a reliable sample. If it would smell anything like the way it did on her when I try it, I will be so happy (but will, of course, not actually know...).

I have it. I can smell it when I wear it but it’s very different from normal perfumes. Generally I don’t know if people notice it but one woman did have the type of reaction that people claim they get when they wear it - she was amazed and kept saying how amazing I smelled 😄

Like @NeonMist I can’t smell it much on myself but I’ve had many compliments on it! Including from a stranger (female) who was squashed up next to me on the tube. It is an odd concept though.

So those who can smell it on themselves or on others, what sort of scent do you get?
QuentinQuarantino gets woodsy, herbaceous, I get cypress-pine like the smell you get when you break a branch not the resin smell, sharp p, citrus.

DH wears it. He has both 01 and 02. I’ve just sprayed some 01 on me and at the moment I think it has a very artificial chemical smell, much like the Comme de Garçons Odeur 71 that DH also wears.

The first time I wore this, I'd put it on in A department store because I'd sprayed Bobbi Brown Beach on myself and I hate jasmine, so was trying to cover it up.

Anyway two men honestly chased me down the street to ask me what I was wearing.

That's never happened before or since!!

I got a sample and although I got asked many times what I was wearing because the other person thought I smelt nice, I could only smell a pencil lead type smell and it gave me a metallic taste in my mouth. It was my strangest perfume experience.

I love this scent! I bought it after a colleague started wearing it and thought she smelt amazing. I can definitely smell it on myself.
