Mulberry Iris

Seriously tempted by a large Iris. Has anyone got one?
Will it stay smart or does it get tatty especially the plaited handle and leather drawstring thongs?
It is pretty pricey and so I'm holding strong for now as I hope there will be some movement on the price soon. Or is that optimistic?

I’ve got an Alexa which has plaiting on the handle. The plaiting is fine, it’s not got tatty at all. However the corners are a bit scuffed & worn.

Ive currently got my eye on the Millie, but I don’t think there will be any movement on price.

IIRC, although the Alexa has a plaited handle on the top, the underside (the bit that is in contact with your hand) is a strip of flat leather. A lot of the colour options for the handle are light coloured so I'd be more wary of that discolouring. It's a while since I've bought a Mulberry but their sales were always mid-June so you might be lucky and get 20%ish off some of the colours.

Yeah, sale will be in June. I think it’s a nice bag but as already said, I’d worry about the handle going a bit manky (unless you just use the bag crossbody and leave the handle as a decorative feature).

My Mulberry bags are years old and still look good as new (except for the one I use daily in the winter as my work horse bag, which is showing minor signs of wear), so I’m quite sure the bag would wear well.

My mulberry is 2 years old and used daily and not too well treated but looks as good as the day I bought it

Me too. I had hoped they’d do a dark green for so long and they release it just as I go on maternity leave

Probably still worth it though! Baked beans on toast for lunch every day and no new work clothing for 6-12 months cancels it out, right?

A tip for the sale. The US sale usually starts earlier than the UK sale so it's worth keeping an eye on what's in the US sale and the price reduction as that's a good indicator of what's in the UK sale.

I’ve most recently had my eye on a Mulberry Hampstead - I haven’t been able to see one in flesh yet.

Does anyone have any idea on what’s best for day to day - standard or small?

@Rebel i usually watch YouTube reviews, they give a good indication of how functional an individual bag is. Especially useful for comparing sizes.

Or if you google the bag and outfits you can run through google images to get a better idea of fit.
