10 Fragrances for Life

JMAngel1 · 04/05/2020 12:03

There's a popular Youtube video called the above and I thought it would be fun for us to list our all time favourite perfumes.
I was thinking about this as I was going through a memory and found an old diary from 10 years ago of my favourite perfumes and it hasn't changed much at all!
I also would love to read everyone's lists as with lockdown, I'm really missing smelling new fragrances in department stores - spring is usually a big launch time and I can easily lose an hour immersed in the fragrance halls! Instead I'll go down a Fragantica rabbit hole!!

So my !ist is as follows

  1. NR for her EDT - my absolute favourite. all year round
  2. D&G Light Blue Intense. S/S
  3. Tom Ford Neroli Portafino. S/S
  4. Chanel Chance. S/S
  5. Stella McCartney Stella. Summer
  6. Agent Provacateur Maitresse Spring
  7. Floral Street Ylang Ylang Espresso A/W
  8. Replica By the Fireplace A/W
  9. Gucci Rush A/W
10. Nina Ricci Bella S/S

A fragrance I'm dying to smell as it featured in so many of the YT videos is Marly Delina - does anyone have this and if so, do you think I would like it based on my list?

ThePawtriarchy · 09/05/2020 05:47

@Twinkle71 I agree that Perfume Parlour’s New West isn’t good but their Island Water is great! I spray it with abandon and love it!

ThePawtriarchy · 09/05/2020 05:55

Ok so mine:

Prada Infusion d’Iris Amande - but unfortunately the amande note doesn’t last long.
Hermès - Un Jardin Sur Le Nil -
Chanel - Cristalle Eau Verte - fresh green spiky gorgeousness
Frederic Malle - L’eau d’hiver - winter coolness
Perfume Parlour’s Island Water dupe - so good for spraying with abandon
Comme des Garçon - Rhubarb Sherbert - sharp rhubarb with warm vanilla drydown
Chanel Beige
Estée Lauder - Bronze Goddess Azur - just bought this, like BG crosses with Neroli Portofino

What I wish they’d bring back is Paco Rabanne XS pour Elle 😩

Ivoire by Balmain (but not the reformation that has lost its skanky edge)
First by Van Cleef and Arpels
Eau du Sud by Annick Goutal - reminds me of something my mother used to wear when I was a child.
Choc by Paco Rabanne - summer scent of my youth
Halston - winter scent of my youth
Inevitable Crimes of Passion by 4160 Tuesdays. DH says it smells of pencil sharpenings, but I love it.
Chanel No 19 - everyone asks me what this is when I wear it
Coromandel by Chanel - definitely a winter one
Neroli by Yves Rocher. I used to wear a Neroli from M & S but can’t get it any more. This one’s better but more expensive.
DKNY Woman. Reminds me of a fantastic holiday in New York.
Cabochard by Gres, another one my mother used to wear.

Honourable mention to What I Did on my Holidays by 4160 Tuesdays and Un Jardin de Monsieur Li by Hermes.

IrisApfelRocks · 09/05/2020 06:48

slinkysaluki Oh I loved D&G Feminine too. It was beautiful. I seem to recall it only came in edt but my Goodness did it last. I miss it.

Bluesheep8 · 09/05/2020 07:44

avoidingthewineaisle I remember Moonflower too. I loved so many of them and so wish they'd bring them back. Fuzzy Peach was another fave of mine. Not sickly sweet but it just somehow smelt 'juicy'. It was beautiful.

Yes D&G Feminine was so up my street - super musky.

Baconking · 09/05/2020 09:26

I'm surprised no one has mentioned CK Euphoria.

I love it and always get complimented when wearing it.

Would love some ideas of similar perfumes

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 09/05/2020 10:46

Try putting it into the fragrance finder on the Perfume Society's website, @Baconking. I'd tried it earlier with one of my favourite ever now sadly discontinued perfumes, and got lots of suggestions I'm going to check out once lockdown is over: https://perfumesociety.org/find-a-fragrance/

Is there such a thing a winter rose and a summer, do you think? I'm just becoming a bit obsessed with rose-scented stuff Smile

Anniesnotmydaddy · 09/05/2020 10:47

So many lovely perfumes and memories on this thread.

Another that I loved and was discontinued was Calvin Klein Obsession Sheer. I found it in an outlet shop in the US once and loved it but have never been able to find it since.

I'm very tempted to buy a bottle of No19. It's such a summery smell.

teta · 09/05/2020 11:40

@Greebo there definitely are summer & winter roses. I wear La Fille De Berlin in winter as a dark red rose. Une Rose by Frederick Malle in spring as a pure Rose and I have Une Rose d Ete - a pale yellow rose with Linden and apple for summer. Check out Rosine Perfumes as they are Rose specialists. Plus they do brilliant sample packs.
