Tall and curvy

I thought I'd cheer myself up during lockdown by doing some online shopping but I'm really struggling to find anything I like that might stand a chance of fitting me. I'm 42, 6ft tall and a size 16-18, with big hips and big boobs. I can't wear anything too fitted (as it's always fitted for shorter bodies than I have), high necked, strappy or bias cut, but anything that might possibly fit me that I'm looking at online is just so frumpy.

I'd like some midi length dresses in block colours or stripes, in decent fabrics, and have previously bought things from Oliver Bonas, Monsoon, M&S, Laura Ashley, Cos and LK Bennett. I've looked at all their websites and hate everything! Can't spend a fortune but happy to spend maybe £50-£100 on a dress. Any ideas? Where do Mumsnet tall women get their clothes?

Hello! 6 ft and size 16 here.

I have had some luck with:

  • damsel in a dress. I tend to try and buy in a sale as they can can be a bit pricy.
  • boden dresses which they do a longer length option for (but not their knitwear, tends to be too short in the arms),
  • sometimes the bravissimo clothing line, but you have to keep an eye on the length as some can be quite short.

Unfortunately I do usually shop in stores to check the fit but that can't be done at the moment.

Try Zalando. I’m 5’10” and I always find stuff there. Just search tall clothing for ladies and there’s plenty of New Look, DP, Wallis, walG, Anna Field, Vero Moda. The list goes on.

6ft and 16 here too. Next do longer length snd Dorothy Perkins. Also find H & M ok for midi dresses

Thank you! Surprised myself by finding some things I liked on Boden. I get exhausted with Zalando - there's just so much!!!
