All Saints Dalby worth it?

WingBingo · 02/05/2020 20:21

I am toying with treating myself to one in black.

I am tall and a size 10 but I am high waisted so tend to avoid jackets that are cut short.

Is the Dalby a bad idea? I guess I need to try it on but I was hoping for opinions on how much enjoyment yours brings you.

It would work with my wardrobe but it is a lot to spend on a jacket.

I’m a tall size 10, I have one and love it, I wanted a leather jacket that was edgy but not fussy, this has clean lines and sits perfectly. I tried on many styles and the Dalby was my favourite. I wear it more dresses and loose crop trousers than jeans.
In fact I can’t wait to actually go somewhere and wear it again!

WingBingo · 02/05/2020 22:01

Oh yes that’s what I will wear it with, dresses and crop trousers.

Maybe skinny jeans and boots in the winter.

Don't buy full price, All Saints often do codes, more frequently of late at the moment. They are either in trouble generally, or maybe just suffering during the lockdown. Sign up to their newsletter for a notification.

If you can't wait for a code or just want to compare styles, Next do the Dalby and a couple of other styles if you have the credit facility.

WingBingo · 03/05/2020 10:42

Thank you, good tip, I will wait for a code. They are doing 10% off your first order but I have seen better.

Not like I can wear it anywhere yet.

Can anyone who has one say how they fit? I’m short but have broad shoulders and muscular arms and my cheap Topshop fake leather jacket got too tight in the arms,

WingBingo · 03/05/2020 18:37

@MaryLennoxsScowl I’ll let you know when I get one!

The brown one is currently £100 off on the All St website. Also 15% off first orders.

bellalou1234 · 03/05/2020 18:54

I've got the black in a 12. I was advised to go smaller in the shop as they give.. I always feel like it is too snug, but does feel dressy.
This year I got a beige leather one with some christmas money and went for the 14 and it feels so much more casual, the look I was going for with the beige..

WingBingo · 03/05/2020 19:36

I love the beige and it is cheaper atm. Really want the black though so I will wait!

15% off is good, equates to £45 reduction

I have this in black hanging in my wardrobe, haven't even taken the tags off! I just don't like it Hmm

WingBingo · 03/05/2020 22:36

That doesn’t bode well, I am hoping it will be an investment piece.

I’ll wait until I can try it on I store. If it brings me joy then I’ll splurge on a treat

It's a beautiful jacket, I think it just feels too grown up for me! Confused

typicallyatypical · 04/05/2020 06:52

I am hoping it will be an investment piece. It won't be. Contrary to the love on MN, leather biker jackets will not always be considered a classic. They had their hey day about five years ago and are now descending the other side of the peak, currently going through the mainstream phase. They will either drop out of rotation completely for a while, or have another moment, but in a slightly different iteration so the style you have might not look as good to the eye forever.

Investment pieces (if they exist) rely on the the cut and fabrics never changing. Like trench coats and t shirts. Little tweaks to style, length, fit are done deliberately to keep the silhouette fresh and people buying more.

typicallyatypical · 04/05/2020 06:54

So if like it and can afford it, buy it and wear it often. That's great. But don't be fooled into thinking you'll never buy another jacket again, or that this jacket won't be resigned to the back of the cupboard in a year or so.

Personally, with summer coming, you probably won't wear it again till autumn anyway. Wait for a 20% or Black Friday 30% then if you still have the urge.

Notredamn · 04/05/2020 07:43

An investment piece just means when you think of cost per wear, it's easily worth it.
I'm early 30s and have worn biker jackets since adulthood. Since getting Allsaints ones, I've got rid of the others. Wasn't aware of them being on trend particularly 5 years ago, and they don't go 'out of fashion'. I'm in the UK so will get use out of mine until long before Autumn.

WingBingo · 04/05/2020 11:40

It’s more a lifelong purchase for me, not because they are trendy.

I have wanted a biker jacket for a while but it’s a lot of money to spend. I hope it won’t date!

WingBingo I've just put mine on gumtree if you want to have a look

WingBingo · 04/05/2020 12:37

Justonedayatatime11 · 04/05/2020 16:21

That's the one I have, in black. I was advised to get a 10 as they give but I went for the 12 as when I tried both on, I couldn't get the 10 up my arms! I love it. I previously had a leather jacket with no collar and I much prefer the style of the dalby.

WingBingo · 13/05/2020 15:07

Dunno if anyone is interested, but it arrived today.

I love it!!

It looks great!

Italianmeringuebuttercream · 14/05/2020 17:34

Looks great @WingBing! I wore mind today and was horrified to find it felt tighter than when I last wore it. I really must stop eating crap.....

WingBingo · 14/05/2020 20:34

Thank you both!

It feels so nice. Must not gain weight or I’m in trouble, hopefully it will loosen a little.
