My daughter is 21 and has very dry skin, she’s currently using Soap and Glory Vit C face wash but it’s drying her skin out.
I suggested a cleansing balm but which one and am I right?

Any advice please?

A face wash will definitely be drying.

I think any hot cloth balm, or cream cleanser tbh. The special effects from cleansing come from the cloth action.

Superdrug Vit E is lovely and creamy and cheap as chips.Similar but a bit more spendy are Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish (my own holy grail but some don't like the smell- though you can get lavender and rose versions now too) Elemis hot cloth cleanser is also lovely.

Balms- I really rate Body Shop Chamomile butter and Boots Botanics cleansing balm. I tend to use balms in the summer though as they just melt more nicely into your skin then.

Maybe an oil cleanser? I am currently using up a L'Occitane one.

For such young skin, maybe look at La Roche Posay who have a range for every kind of skin.

I prefer a cream/hot cloth or a balm.

A vote for body shop chamomile balm here. I love a product, particularly an expensive one, but this balm is the best!

Yes , leave the face wash off and try a balm with a muslin cloth. It's gentle exfoliation and the oily texture is more moisturising.

BodyShop Camomile Butter is lovely
Elemis Balm (more ££ but lasts ages)

Ones I haven't tried but available online -
Emma Hardie (from M&S)
There's an M&S balm

I'm using A Primark one at the moment (not online) but it was £3 , I thought I'd give it a punt . Does the job well.

Superdrug Radience or Vit E , Aldi Hot Cloth Cleanser , Liz Earle Cleanse&Polish are mote 'clay' like .

Thanks for your advice. I’ll definitely get DD to check those out. The Elemis is lovelyyyyyy.
Hadn’t thought of LRP so thank you.

The Ordinary Squalane Cleanser is lovely - fragrance free, effective and not at all drying.

LakeFlyPie · 30/04/2020 21:42

Cetaphil cleanser is really gentle
