Just that really. Are they ok? But how do you style them? What else do you wear with them? What shoes? Both for casual and office?

yes I watched sewing bee last night

Of they are long, flats but if they are 3/4 then brogues. I’m looking for a nice pair just now.

imausernamenotanumber · 30/04/2020 15:38

Flats as in ballet pumps or something else?

Mules with a light heel, velvet slipper type shoes, ballerina style with a slight heel.
I wouldn't wear brogues, they need something fairly dainty.

Toilenstripes · 30/04/2020 15:41

I think they’re better if you’re above average height. Also, be aware that if they are in fashion now then next season the trend will probably be skinny trousers.

MikeUniformMike · 30/04/2020 16:16

They are a bit of a tripping hazard - be careful going up and down stairs.

plunkplunkfizz · 30/04/2020 22:20

Pointy flats but they are a death trap if the catch on the hem.

viques · 30/04/2020 22:25

Did you watch sewing bee this week? They made some beauties. There was a gorgeous picture of 1930 women in palazzo pants. I think they tended to be wearing flat shoes, I have seen flats with crossover straps over the instep in pictures before, and they always look right to me.

VenusClapTrap · 01/05/2020 12:01

I agree you need to be tall. I can’t wear them.

Lordfrontpaw · 01/05/2020 16:13

When I started wearing them I was very influenced by 20s and 30s styles. Luckily I was tall and very thin back then (not so thin these days) so could get away with wearing most things.

blackcat86 · 01/05/2020 16:16

On some people (generally taller) they look fab full length. I have one shortish friend who always wears them ankle length with converse and it's not a good look - I didnt mention it as I thought I was being bitchy until someone else described her and used that.

Cakeandslippers · 01/05/2020 16:28

I only wear mine in summer and normally with flat sandals which I think looks nice.

Lordfrontpaw · 01/05/2020 16:29

I do wear jeans like that with converse. It gives you the ‘oldest school kid on the playground’ look!

KellyHall · 01/05/2020 16:32

Indian shoes, khusha I think they're called - usually silk covered leather with pretty embroidery and beads. Depending on the print of the trousers of course!

JellyfishandShells · 01/05/2020 16:33

I loved the ones on the GBSB but I, after a bit of yearning, I remembered that they don’t suit my petite self. I have some linen summer ones which are ok and feel nice on a hot day but there are better shapes for me.

Nitpickpicnic · 01/05/2020 17:03

Or the more modern look, with ‘flatform’ white trainers. See Trinny’s YouTube channel (the styling/wardrobe one, not the makeup one). She favours a white/silver Stella trainer but it’s far too high ( and pricey) for me. I go with flatter ones, they look fab.

BubblesBuddy · 01/05/2020 17:22

Espadrilles with a wedge heel. Very pretty heeled sandals or flat sandals. White trainers if you want a very casual look.

Floisme · 01/05/2020 17:29

I'm not tall and I have some. It's probably not my best look but they make me happy. Besides I wore skinnies for nearly 10 years and they looked a lot worse.
I prefer them high waisted as that makes my legs look a bit longer.
I wear mainly with plimsolls (don't like trainers).

Jemimatheragdoll · 01/05/2020 17:56

I’m small and love wide legged trousers but getting the footwear right is a pain.

Stans and superga’s go well as do various flip flops/sandals also Gigi’s. I’ve yet to find a heel that works on me unless they’re cropped trousers though

TSSDNCOP · 02/05/2020 14:59

I have some, I'm 5'9". They only look good with flats either flip flops or strapless sandals. Heels look awful, like you've got hooves.
