Sensationail LED gel nails - colour looks too thin (see-through) and not "3D"

I've bought the full legit sensationail LED gel nail kit (with the newer gel lamp that only requires 30 seconds curing for each coat.

I followed the instructions of base coat, 30 sec cure, 1 thin colour coat, 30 sec cure, 2nd coat of the colour, 30 sec coat, thin top coat, 30 second cure.

What am I doing wrong? It looks fairly shiny but still flat and kinda see through so not much better than "gel effect nail varnishes" which don't need any LED/UV lamps.

Tried and tested experiences/advice please if possible.

Did you shake the polish well before using it? Which colour was it? Some sensationail polishes aren't that great compared to other brands

I did remember to shake it as it said so in the instructions.

Oh that one is quite pigmented. You didn't wipe in between each coat did you? Have you got a picture of your nails?

It could also be that your coats were too thin

It looks a little better on camera but not as good as all the examplar pics online. I was just worried about applying a thick coat as the instructions state to apply thin coats so was worried it would go wrong. Is it better to apply multiple thin coats or fewer thick coats do you think? Also, should I try a thicker top coat of the clear one?@Nikeybikey

Lots of thin coats are better than fewer thick coats.

Also, try and leave a bit more if a gap between your cuticle next time and they should last longer

You can use other gels with the lamp, they just night need curing for longer. I have a few of the Sensationail gels and some are better than others! I hate the tiny pots with the awful little brushes!
I would add more layers, my nails are so thin so I always do an extra coat for luck

As in leave a bit of bare nail at the top where the skin meets the nail? How does that help? Thanks

@Glitterb Which colours have you seen to be quite bad in sensationail?

You've gone over your cuticles - the bottom of your nails will catch on something and they will lift off, also water etc will get underneath causing them to come off very quickly.

You just paint as you would with normal nail polish, three strokes - one down the middle and one either side. Don't paint over the cuticle. There are videos on YouTube on how to apply which are helpful.

If you don't like the colour after two coats, add another coat. Nothing bad will happen if you add an extra coat of colour.

@Thatone5 I got a coral colour with the set and I ordered a red, both are in the stupid little bottles and are hard to apply. I order an express gel polish in pink and it’s brilliant and the bottle in normal sized with a normal sized brush!

I echo what the others say. With sensationail, a lot of the time the colour of the polish isn't quite the same as the picture online

I’m happy with the actual colour of the shade but it doesn’t look thick and gel-y anD 3D on my nails which was more my concern.
