Home hair dye suggestions

My hair is not looking particularly fabulous right now. I usually get it coloured every six to eight weeks at the salon. I haven't used home hair dye for about 15 years.
Can anyone recommend a good home hair dye? When I have it coloured at the salon it's called "semi permanent glossing" and the colour is dark chocolate brown.

TIA

I have just used Casting creme gloss semi permanent having been in the same situation as you. They have a very helpful colour chooser on their website and I found it pretty easy to use. The gloves are still rubbish though, so I used better ones.

I like Garnier Nutrisse, but have used other well known brands which have been fine too. I think it's about the shade you chose rather than the brand.

I don’t know but I’m going to have to do something too as my hair has decided now is the time to go GREY 😭😭😭 Having never had a grey hair in my life, now several per day are appearing!

I've dyed my hair forever and this is the best one for me

I also use casting colours. Have done for years. Its a semi, so supposed to wash out after 24 washes. Its often on sale 2 for £12.

I'm naturally dark brown, with some grey, but find the colours come out really dark. I actually buy light brown, iced brown or light chestnut colour and it comes out fine. IF I got a dark or even a medium brown, it would come out black! It does lighten as it comes out, but get at least 2 colours lighter than you think you want.

Thanks everyone. I went for the casting creme gloss. The shade chooser selected Darkest Brown.
My DP has had great fun playing hairdressers in the bathroom! 😂
It is very dark, but I think I like it.

I just bought Matrix semi permanent from Sally Beauty, I think this is what they use in my salon. They had plenty stock, had looked at Superdrug first but all click and collect. The bonus with the matrix is I bought a mixing bowl and it comes in a tube so looks like I can squeeze out the amount I need.
