Skincare product recommendation

hi all,

I was using the Korean 7 steps Blush (cleanse, tone, essence, serum, moisturise, retinol and sunscreen for the day) but after the lockdown, I felt like I have less time. I am working more and the children are here all the time. I am really looking to streamline my skincare routine.

What is the one product you swear by and how many products do you use?

I have dry skin, fine lines around my eyes and some pigmentation.

Thanks in advance.

I know the smell is a bit funny, but I really love the eve lom cleanser. If you would like something a little bit more purse friendly the ritual cleansing balm is absolutely lovely.

I use Sunday Riley Good Genes and then a facial oil at the moment, the Herbivore Lapis oil but they are all quite pricey.

If I was you I would do a good cleanse, serum and moisturiser.

What is the budget you want to spend?

megladon2020 · 29/04/2020 16:41

I've started using face theory, bought online and I think it's fab.

Not what you asked but how do you find using retinol during the day? I always thought it broke down in sunlight so should be used at night only.

Suburbmum · 30/04/2020 16:17

@doadeer does your skin tingle with Sunday Rileys good genes? My budget is up to between £30 to £50 per item. Do you get good results from the products you recommended? What can you see/ feel?

@megladon2020 any one you would recommend?

How did you ladies head about these brands/ products? I tend to see what Boots has and never heard of the brands both of you mentioned.

@emma6776 sorry, I only apply retinol at night.

Follow Trinny Woodall and you will hear about every brand on earth. She is fabulous

Lndnmummy · 30/04/2020 18:35

I use neostrata/skinceuticals and do cleanse/serum/serum/tinted moisturiser in the day and cleanse different serum/serum at night

Suburbmum · 30/04/2020 19:52

@Lndnmummy 2 serums? So you don't use any moisturiser? What seerums do you use? Are they moisturising enough?

@LesLavandes thanks for the tips.

I swear by Korean skincare and have been doing it for a few years. However, I have always understood it to mean that you don’t have to do every single step every day, just what you feel your skin needs. So this is how I do it and it seems to work.
If I had to narrow it down though, I would use a Korean oil-based cleanser, and then (tip from a beautician friend) the blue Nivea cream as overnight cream

Lampan · 30/04/2020 19:58

oh and of course a spf50 sunscreen every day without fail! Currently using one by Suncut but there are loads of good Asian ones

Lndnmummy · 30/04/2020 20:08

@Suburbmum no I don’t use moisturiser. I have roseaca and find that emollient creams aggregate it. The serums are quite different in texture and what they do so the morning one is a very runny vitamin C and antioxidant one, followed by a redness neutraliser (skinceuticals or neostrata). In the evening it’s either retinol serum or a hyralonic acid one.

doadeer · 30/04/2020 20:08

Yes I do tingle sometimes with Sunday Riley -
I honestly think my skin is glowing. I had a good skincare regime after I had just had my son, I was having about three or four hours of broken sleep at night and everybody kept saying how well I looked I felt absolutely haggered inside but on the outside my skin was looking great.

I really think the key is a cleansing balm. And experimenting with some of the acids.
If you go to Caroline Hiron website - She has cheat sheets on all of this.

I've just signed up to beauty pie which is like an online beauty subscription and you get money off the products I keep hearing really good things so I'm excited to try that

megladon2020 · 03/05/2020 15:19

@Suburbmum
When you go on to their site they ask you to input info about your skin and give you a recommendation. I have the vitamin c cleanser and moisturiser and a retinal type serum. It's made a big difference, as has the glowtini I bought (like a pulsing facial cleaner/ exfolitor.
