Condition hair before washing it??

Often wondered this.
If I put on a hair deep conditioning mask on my hair when it's dry and leave for several hours. Would it condition my hair or do I have to shampoo it first?

I sometimes do this overnight and then I'm the morning I wash it out, shampoo and condition as normal and it's super soft!

I'm going to try that. Got straw hair, neglected in the last few weeks.

I sleep with coconut oil on my hair once a week then shampoo and condition it in the morning.

I'm using a new leave in conditioner. Love it!

I've tried a conditioner followed by shampoo Tresemme pair... ok but I don't think I'd buy it again.

It's Bed Head Tigi Ego Boost Leave In Conditioner. It has really made a difference to my hair. I shampoo and condition in the shower as normal then add two squirts on wet hair.
Normally this long after highlights my hair goes horrible and also felt straw like but this has solved it!
