Is it ok to use Phillips Lumea once a week at the start?

Just that. I am very excited about it! I have done one session but wondering if I can do it once a week for a while, in case I missed some spots? Thanks for any advice ☺

I think you’d be wasting it, you’ve got all the current hairs, you’re supposed to wait 2 weeks for the next growth cycle.

Grapefruity · 26/04/2020 20:49

You should follow the directions on the app for how often to use it.

imwellardme · 26/04/2020 20:50

I got one a couple of months ago and used it once a week until I started seeing results.

BeNiceToYourSister · 26/04/2020 21:20

No, the hair’s growth cycle is 2 weeks so you wouldn’t see better results and the instructions advise not to use it more frequently than this for safety reasons.

Ok thanks everybody. Whilst I have you here ... what actually happens to the hairs that were blasted this time - I had shaved but they appear to be growing as normal (😮I did it 4 days ago). Is that them naturally coming to the surface but the follicles are actually brain-dead/asleep, so to speak, so the hairs will just drop off? Or did those ones not get fried this time, although it seems to be all.of them!

Ninkanink · 26/04/2020 22:26

You shouldn’t use it more often as a)it makes no difference and b)there’s a higher likelihood of adverse affects to your skin.

It puts the follicle into a sleep phase, essentially. The hair will grow as usual and then fall out. Next time there were will be fewer, and so on every time.

Anotherwhatsapper · 26/04/2020 22:32

Ok thanks ninkanink, that explains it! Can I tweeze out the ones on my face, or would that undo the good work/re-awaken the follicle?

It's all in the insert OP. You can continue to remove hair as normal between sessions so pluck away!

I got mine just this week too so I'm with you on the excitement Grin

Mistymonday · 27/04/2020 00:03

Following :)

Ninkanink · 27/04/2020 00:12

Ugh just saw ‘affects’ rather than ‘effects’. I’m blaming this stupid autocorrect as that’s not a mistake I would make...

Yes you can remove hair in the meantime between sessions.

PutYourBackIntoit · 27/04/2020 00:22

I'm interested in this. Super (dark) hairy. Was not expecting results after one use but my legs are silky smooth after a week, underarms and bikini line as normal.
Only just seeing some hairs on legs now but normally this would be after half a day.

lalafafa · 27/04/2020 00:33

I think you can shave but not pluck.

Donutinthesky · 27/04/2020 06:34

If you pluck you are defeating the purpose that folicle itseld needs to be put to sleep if you pluck you encourage a new folicle so have to start again like 1 step forward 2 backward. You must only shave.
Your results will show from 3rd use and i say use according the spaces out period set not like 3 times in a day or a week this wont speed it up.

If you laser more frequently you are wasting the number of pulses. Each device has a definite number of pulses.. if you waste it on .ore frequent unneceasaru treatments you will end up needing a new one sooner.

Please read the information manual if you lost it read on website.

I'm going to start using mine again and had wondered this too OP. I only used mine previously on my face (it hasn't worked!) so I got bored and put it away. Just found it this week so I'm going to try my legs as everyone seems to say it's brilliant and I've never had success at all.

Ninkanink · 27/04/2020 09:06

Ah yes I thoughts I remembered something about not plucking but wasn’t sure. I only shave, but to be honest I’ve hardly needed to.

Anotherwhatsapper · 27/04/2020 11:38

Ok thanks all, too late, have plucked, but will know in future just to shave in between. That's what I was thinking, that it might trigger the follicle again, thanks! Have a good few months for it to take effect anyway ☺

AnPo · 27/04/2020 14:19

According to my manual you can shave or wax between sessions? I assume waxing and plucking has the same effect? Anyway best stick to shaving if unsure. Good luck OP

VillageFete · 27/04/2020 15:55

I have this. My hair (head and all over body) is very dark and grows super fast. The Lumea has worked brilliantly. Slow and steady with it, Rome wasn’t built in a day!

I’ve only used it on my legs. I get Brazilian waxes, but dread them every time. I’m thinking it’s time to just use the Lumea on it? Particularly now we are in lockdown.
Those that use it on bikini - is it really tricky to get all the hair? I can imagine it’s also quite sensitive? I tried it once under my arms and it really hurt. Maybe I should have another go?

Whatsnewpussyhat · 27/04/2020 16:04

I had the fastest results on bikini line. Sides Depends on what 'look' you are going for. I don't remove all hair there though and don't think you can use on more sensitive areas.

Worked great on legs. Face not so much.

Best part is no bloody ingrowing hairs.

Whatsnewpussyhat · 27/04/2020 16:06

Oh and it doesn't hurt apart from an odd sting once in a while.

Viviennemary · 27/04/2020 16:09

I must say I did use it every week to ten days when I first got it. But it's best to stick to the instructions. I've not bothered for ages now and have to start all over again. Might have laser. But it did work well if you keep it up.

Ninkanink · 27/04/2020 16:11

I take everything off on intimate area and it’s ever so slightly painful in certain places but nothing I can’t cope with.

ichifanny · 27/04/2020 17:37

I’ve gradually got my bikini Line down to pretty much a Brazilian now it’s just a wee strip I just gradually did it over a a few months getting closer and closer in to labia so pleased with it as I was so hairy .

ichifanny · 27/04/2020 17:38

I shaved first by the way
