Skincare for teens - recommendations

DD is 12, just washes her face using a flannel and water but starting to get a few blackheads on her nose. Any recommendations for skincare please? Should she just be using a facial wash now or does she need to start moisturising? I haven’t a clue!! Thanks.

Having been through this with my 4 teens, we used to use La Roche Posay, but it can be drying. This Bioderma moisturiser is lovely and light and is brilliant for spot prone skin.

Any mild wash off cleanser seems to work fine, we had been using Cerave but I couldn't get it in the lockdown so switched to a Simple one from the supermarket and it seems absolutely fine.

The My Clarins teen range is lovely but a little bit pricey.

I think Sam Farmer is great for teens. Simple and easy to use and not £££.

Dd is 16 now and swears by LRP Effaclar range. She's also tried Dermalogica but the teen skin range had essential oils in that made her skin really angry.
I think she was about 12 also when she started with the Effaclar and now also uses the Effaclar moisturiser.

Also uses a LRP facial wash.

Thank you for the suggestions, am having a look at the moment. Funnily enough, I switched from a Kiehls oil cleanser to Cerave hydrating wash a couple of months ago and love it. Not sure that what’s suitable for my fifty something year old skin will suit the skin of a 12 year old but they do a couple of other types which might suit.

Back to google! Thanks again

Depends too on how much of a routine they want .

My 20yo DS has been using Carbon Therapy Soap on a Konjac sponge , Lush Kalamazoo on his beard and Cevare Moisturiser (this is a new one for him- he was using Bulldog )
Works well, simple routine

DD , loves Sukin - wash off foaming or cream cleanser , the Superdrug Tea Tree toner and Sukin Rose oil and moisturiser .

There's a skincare range by Revolution, they do a drying lotion ( clear top layer chalky pink at the bottom that you dip a clean cotton bud into, don't shake it) IIRC its £8-£10 so much more reasonable than the Mario Badescu one , does the same job
She didn't like the Revolution Rose spray

It's trial and error and the ££ aren't necessarily any better , but with my DD I buy the ones she uses otherwise its a false economy .

  • a muslin cloth and a gentle cleanser to start . Tea Tree is good and quite mild .
