Where can I buy jeans that feel like jeans?

Obviously I can’t go and try on at present, so where have all the jeans gone? Heavy denim, minimal stretch?

I ordered some Topshop Jonis to try and although they fit fine they are so thin, like leggings. I think the thighs would fray in a matter of weeks.

How are the Levi’s, the Lee’s, the Wrangler’s doing these days? Carharrt maybe? I’m happy to spend up to £100 if they’d last.

I got a pair of Gap jeans from TKMaxx because they have more denim and less stretch and actually they aren't too bad, especially as they only cost £12.50.

I was sick of buying jeans that aren't jeans, hence me searching in TKMaxx.

So I'm following this with interest.

I've been asking this question for years! I've got a pair of top shop bootleg jeans from about 12 years ago and they are proper heavy denim.. high street jeans nowadays are just denim coloured trousers... hopefully someone will be along with some tips

Splodgetastic · 26/04/2020 08:29

People Tree do a few jeans that are, they say, more gentle on the environment because of the process used and they are also heavy denim (I assume that they may be better for the environment because they last longer too). They are not, however, cheap.

I have the Cecile straight leg jeans.

ThursdayLastWeek · 26/04/2020 08:32

I bought some from new look recently these ones and they are firm denim, no stretch.

I also like Monki, I usually buy the Taiki style so can’t vouch for the other styles.

SpyApp · 26/04/2020 08:39

Gap are the best high street ones I can find for minimal stretch. I but girlfriend jeans but in a smaller size so they fit more like straight (and smooth my bumps)

EllaPaella · 26/04/2020 13:00

I can't stand that stretchy denim with lycra.
Levi's are my favourite in terms of both style and quality.
Gap are also good quality denim. I've also had a pair of Bershka jeans which were very good.

homemadecommunistrussia · 26/04/2020 13:11

Monki

thedevilinablackdress · 26/04/2020 13:48

Monki - good sturdy denim and organic
Some Levi's

nitgel · 26/04/2020 13:52

Levis 501's don't stretch or they have 'low stretch' but can only see crop on their web page. are you after full length straight jeans?

Deux · 26/04/2020 13:53

Curiously I got a great pair from M and S a few years ago. I’d love some jeans from Hiut, made in the UK too.

DianaT1969 · 26/04/2020 14:08

Only buy jeans with 3% lycra or less. They'll feel like the old Levi's. H&M sometimes have real jeans.

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 26/04/2020 14:12

& Other Stories have some straight jeans with no stretch - they are proper denim.

MrsGrindah · 26/04/2020 14:15

OP thanks for this thread cos I was just saying the same thing! I’m not skinny but I hate stretchy jeans . I want some properly uncomfortable ones!

ElaineMarieBenes · 26/04/2020 14:17

M&S

Uniqlo

But best are vintage!

MrsGrindah · 26/04/2020 14:18

@TooExtraImmatureCheddar Do you have a link please? I can’t see them on the website?

MrsGrindah · 26/04/2020 14:19

M & S all have a high Lycra content I’ve found.

Blue5238 · 26/04/2020 14:38

Hiut. Not cheap but sewn in the UK and great quality proper denim.

You have to go through and check to see if they are stretch or not - sadly you can’t filter by that!

MrsGrindah · 26/04/2020 14:50

Thanks. Yes that’s the kind of denim I want but sadly not the style I’m after . Thanks though.

Californiabakes · 26/04/2020 14:54

I got some in Cos this year that are lovely thick denim

mylittlefidget · 26/04/2020 15:21

I bought wranglers jeans and they feel like the jeans I used to wear (when I was young... Quite a while ago now... 😀)

PARunnerGirl · 26/04/2020 18:16

Agree with a previous poster on Levi’s. My “ribcage” jeans are exactly like you describe.

StillWeRise · 26/04/2020 18:20

try these
I recently got a pair and they are great
ethical/sustainable supplier too

GreyishDays · 26/04/2020 18:25

My M&S ones are denimy and only 2% Lycra
