Bugger. It turns out Boy Brow IS that good.

Finally popped my Glossier cherry. I always struggle with getting the right thing on my brows - pencils smudge so easily, Maybelline Tattoo Brow dried up really fast and nobody wants accidental slugs. The Boy Brow looked really natural, full but not OTT and stayed put, even on my pale and sparse brows. And now I've got an expensive new habit just when I can least afford one (DH furloughed, I've had hours cut). Damnit!

Might as well be hanged for a sheep: what Glossier stuff should I try next? I've also ordered Futuredew, which feels nice on but not sure about the tinted colour...

I hate to tell you this but the Cloud Paint blushes are amazing Grin I also like the foundation and concealer.

ChainsawBear · 22/04/2020 08:49

Curse you! Grin the stretch concealer and base do look good, although I rarely wear anything more than primer.

Are there any standouts in the skincare?

No. Not if you don’t have bushy brows. I tried the pen too. No dice.

I DO love haloscope and the dew. Both make your skin look young and fresh.

TomNook · 22/04/2020 08:51

Boy brow has to have lots of hairs to cling to, I found.

aWeaponCalledtheWord · 22/04/2020 08:56

what shade do you have? my usual brow pencil is a rimmel in brown/black. my
hair is pink so i’m wondering how dark the brown brow flick or boy brow are? i don’t want black slugs but i don’t want weird pale brown either!

LumpySpacedPrincess · 22/04/2020 08:57

The stretch concealer is excellent. Decent, buildable coverage, pats on seamlessly...love it.

OhioOhioOhio · 22/04/2020 08:58

How do you know that you need this treat? My eyes are not right. But I don't know why?

ChainsawBear · 22/04/2020 09:16

@aWeaponCalledtheWord I have mid to dark brown hair and thought the brown shade was just right. You could try emailing Glossier with a current picture of yourself for advice on the shade, they did this for me to determine the right concealer and base shade.

Pic attached of my hair colour, sadly you couldn't really see the brows in this pic as I have glasses on.

I don't have full or bushy brows but I found you can use the Boy Brow mix to fill in the gaps as well as to go on the hairs.

@Chainsawbear thank you - your hair is about my natural colour (we don’t talk about the grey) so i’ll try the brown.

my brows fell victim to the 1990s and have only ever partially recovered! i’m always on the lookout for a good brow product so will give this a whirl.

MaryLennoxsScowl · 22/04/2020 09:40

Agreed. I hate pencils and liked my cheap Topshop brow mascara much better until I got Boy Brow, which costs twice as much but is worth it - damn it. I have medium brown hair, lighter than the OP’s, and use the brown and it’s exactly right and it doesn’t feel crispy.

Yes to cloud paint and the stretch concealer. Luckily the lipstick and the eyeshadow is pants and the mascara wasn’t as smudge-proof as Clinique (and was also impossible to build up - it’s an extremely natural look) or I’d be giving them all my money. Now I’m tempted to try the haloscope and the dew though!

Thighmageddon · 22/04/2020 09:41

Future dew is amazing stuff. Now I'm going to have to purchase boy brow and stretch concealer after reading this.

wizzywig · 22/04/2020 09:49

Is glossier the subscription service? Or is that beauty pie?

MaryLennoxsScowl · 22/04/2020 09:53

Has anyone tried the milky jelly cleanser? I had a sample once but obviously one wash doesn’t really show you any results.

ChainsawBear · 22/04/2020 09:53

That's Beauty Pie @wizzywig. Glossier is just the brand of skincare/cosmetics. They do sell bundles of their stuff but no subscription required.

My eyebrows never really recovered from the terrible things I used to do to them as a 90s teen either... Blush

OP posts:
QueenieMum · 22/04/2020 09:56

@wizzywig are you thinking of Glossybox? That's a subscription service like Beauty Pie.

2ndStar · 22/04/2020 09:58

I’m also struggling with invisible brows on the endless video meetingsdespite behind a dark brunette with reasonable brows.

The brown shade - is it a cool brown or is it reddish? I’ve got no red in my brows and keep ending up with warm toned brown brie stuff which look terrible on me.

MrsHaroldRobbins · 22/04/2020 10:20

I've also discovered Glossier fairly recently. Another vote for the Cloudpaint, you can mix colours and then I layer the Niteshine highlighter on top, it's quite shiny but I like that, much prefer it to the Benefits highlighter. Also love the dotcom lip balm, especially the mango flavour! And the Lidstar eyeshadow. It's very sheer and natural looking and easy to dab/blend. Haven't tried the Skywash yet as not keen on the colour range. Agree with PP that the mascara is not buildable enough so doesn't really have any effect! Am off to buy Futuredew now on recommendations upthread. Enjoy shopping OP Smile

TomNook · 22/04/2020 10:22

Haloscope. Haloscope. On cheeks. The best highlighter.

I prefer the benefit (hate the brand) brow thing. Less harsh.

TomNook · 22/04/2020 10:25

What colour cloud paint? I’m white but quite tanned - not orange. Orange doesn’t suit me

MaryLennoxsScowl · 22/04/2020 10:47

It’s cool brown.

wizzywig · 22/04/2020 11:26

@ChainsawBear, @QueenieMum i keep seeing it on facebook and insta, you pay an amount of money to the company and they give you repackaged products. Ah found it, its beauty pie: www.beautypie.com/?gclid=CjwKCAjw1v_0BRAkEiwALFkj5getrx0LRjdEOQznH-R7OQrCN4cF7HmhGKRR74xLCZ6SF5pv5vnVHxoCje0QAvD_BwE

dontgobaconmyheart · 22/04/2020 11:29

I quite like boy brow but I don't know I think it's better than other cheaperer brow mascaras, or just some clear mascara and a blended brow pencil.

I was given a load of glossier for my birthday but was a bit let down after the hype. I found the cleanser and mascara absolutely nothing special, foundation and concealer is ok but you have to bear in mind it's all very sheer coverage, doesn't last long, probably not for those with oily skin. I wouldn't ever rebuy. You can build up the concealer but still. A lot of it reminded me of Boots Natural Collection to be honest, but with better marketing.

Balm.com is nice but I wouldn't pay that much for it, tinted vaseline is very similar but in a pot and is a quid.

Loved the cloud paints though, and will probably rebuy' I'd look for swatches online before doing so as some colours aren't that wearable for all skin tones.

Frost1nMay · 22/04/2020 12:09

Thanks to you lot I am now £40 lighter in my pocket.

Got boy brow, the concealer/primer set. Will report back after its been delivered.

2ndStar · 22/04/2020 12:25

Brie?
Brow even
Thank you re cool brown. May become a sheeoGrin

TheStarryNight · 22/04/2020 13:32

I’ve tried a lot of Glossier stuff on the strength of Boy Brow, and sadly nothing else lived up to it.
