Denim Dungarees sizing advice

When you buy denim dungarees what size do you buy? The size for your bottom or for your top? I'm 10 top, 8 bottom and want a pair of dungarees but am unsure which size ( and I don't want to do a return!) . I'm looking at fat face ones at the moment. If you'be bought recently, any idea?

They tend to come in sizes like XS, S, M etc.

I t depends on how tight you want them. I usually go up, I think and I wear them as relaxed.. The bib tends to be a bit small otherwise. Mine are from Gap, and I normally am a 2, but the dungarees are size S.

I know you said denim ones, and they do denim ones, but Lucy & Yak have some funky ones, but they are quite loose ones. They should give me a commision. Smile

I'm a 2 only in Gap. I'm and 8 otherwise, 10 on top and I'm not petite but shortish.

If you get some from Lucy & Yak, read the sizing instructions carefully.

Fat face has numeric sizes eg 8, 10 etc. I buy lots of gap jeans but they don't have any dungarees close to my size at the moment. I know about Lucy & Yak, they are very popular on here but I definitely do not want funky ones, I want denim and I like the fat face ones the best or the white stuff ones. Not spending £100s on designer brands!

Also I just checked and Lucy and yak aren't accepting new orders at the moment are they? I'm not waiting until next year or whenever this lockdown ends! I hope they don't go out of business

Ah well I've ordered size 10 and just hope they fit!

The Fat Face ones look nice. If it's free returns I'd order the 10 and the 8, if not, just the 8 if they have some stretch. I have some skinny jeans from Fat Face and I love them. I didn't think I would but they are great.

Thanks I have a pair of fat face jeans which I love bought a couple of years ago in a shop so could try on! Always tough online. Hoping they are relaxed on me

It might be worth looking at brands like Tu. I have short denim dungarees from Florence and Fred, bought a few years ago and worn all summer lots. I usually get positive comments on them.

Had a quick look at the Fat Face one- I've previously looked at them in the shop. They are really nice. I'd order the dark denim ones in an 8.
I love dungarees, they are so easy to wear.

Are they the Lewes ones from Fat Face? If so, I have them and have lived in them since they arrived a couple of weeks ago - they are so comfy. I'm between an 8 and a 10 and got the 8. They are a looser fit so glad I got the size down.

Sooverthemill · 21/04/2020 19:43

@supersalmon1 no I vacillated and ended up with the wide leg ones. But I may also get the Lewes ones later on if I like these or instead if I sent once I can get to return them ( we are shielding and local PO is closed now and I can't ask a neighbour to drive to the next town)
