Impossible to get hair dye

The Clairol one I regularly use is out of stock on Amazon, Boots. Superdrug & various online chemists as well as Asda and Sainsburys. I am guessing once one store gets it in, the others will too - anyone else finding this? I wonder if perhaps it is imported so we've run out in this country and don't want to try another brand even if I could get it, as I don't want to risk another colour - I only do the roots.

Crazy Colour had loads in stock - the kids and I now have purple hair - but possibly not the look you are aiming for!

Have you tried EBay? There are loads of hairdressing and beauty supply shops on there. I buy mine there.

As far as I'm aware, boots has out everything on their website as 'out of stock' if it is not deemed to be an essential item. Not sure if others have done similar.

ok thanks that must be why although Amazon are out of it too and they are still selling non-essential items - wondering if a general shortage of hair dye

Can you actually get to Boots? I went in at the weekend to pick up a prescription.

I was the only person in there, I asked if I could buy other things, she said yes, no browsing but if you know what you want you can get it.
Well it was like supermarket sweep! 🤣

My usual root touch up has been near on impossible to get, online and in supermarkets. But I went to B&M for pet stuff and cleaning products and they had a few boxes of the shade I wanted! I bought one and am waiting until my roots grow out a bit more before using it Maybe somewhere like that will stock it. What about an independent chemist?

What shade are you looking for, permanent or semi?

I managed to get hair dye from boots online. I ended up going for a vibrant blue. Almost black but defiantly blue. I figure I won't get the chance again to give it a go without worrying about work.

A lot were out of stock though. Is it worth checking online to see if other brands have a similar colour available? Perhaps a semi permanent so that it will wash out over time?

Could you use a root touch up spray or powder for now? The Color Wow powders work really well and you can order them online from lots of places.

I had this and found in Sainsbury's (L'Oréal) guess it's pot luck though.

I got my usual hair dye from a Boots shop locally yesterday, they had a good amount of varied stock on the shelf, but not as many as usual iykwim. No bar to wandering around the shop or buying anything including cosmetics etc, just instructions about distancing and not touching stock unnecessarily. Strange it varies so much.

Ive been able to get mine in Home Bargains.

I can't the one I want for love nor money (Colorista Copper). Amazon are wanting £20 for one box!

If anyone knows a nice box copper blonde let me know. Féria mango is just a bit too orange for me.

I got mine from Look Fantastic a couple of weeks ago on a 3 for 2! Sadly I'm still waiting for them to deliver the root colour spray I use :(

I have just done a shop at Tesco. They have loads.

I’ve found shops are likely to have some stock but they are out of stock everywhere online.

@supercee Have you tried the store stock checker on the Superdrug website?

Yeah @WrongKindOfFace there was apparently some in stock at a Superdrug in another part of town, my friend checked as she was walking past anyway but the branch has been shut due to Covid. Typical!

I've put my details to be notified when/if it comes back in stock.

Pleased to say that I was in Boots earlier and got 2 in my shade £6 each or 2 for £9. Yes, out of stock everywhere online - was already in town for my grocery shop so wasn't a special journey. The shelves were about half full I'd say. I wouldn't have driven elsewhere though if there was none in store but that will keep me going for a few months now. I did spot a box on ebay for £25!

Ah no good then was going to offer up semi perm light brown ido t need asi have gone grey!

I went to Superdrug the other day to look for something else and saw hundreds of hair dyes! No shortage around here it seems.
