Beauty Pie Price Increase

I haven't put an order from Beauty Pie in 2/3 month and I was surprised to see the prices seem to have increased quite a lot ie Japanfusion Hyda Prep is now £9.05 it was £7.02 the cleanser was £5.83 now it is £7.55, I suppose it is still pretty good value, has anyone else noticed big increases?

yes, I noticed the tinted moisturiser has gone up by about a quid... I would suspect far less people ordering?

Thighmageddon · 20/04/2020 10:29

It's because they've given us all a two month payment holiday, they have to make some money during this.

emsyj37 · 20/04/2020 13:49

They aren't charging the membership fee so that has been added on to product prices. So if you dont want to spend anything, you dont have to pay the membership fee and in effect your membership is 'suspended ', but if you do choose to order, you pay more for the products to compensate as they are now priced to cover the membership fees.
Although I still got charged for my upgrade Hmm

Newyorkhereicome · 20/04/2020 15:58

Oh that makes sense I didn't realise about the suspended membership, haven't checked emails

It appears that the prices are staying at the higher rate even now the ' subscription holiday' has ended.

I'm quite annoyed - I like the products well enough and I've been a member for a couple of years, but I just can't justify the cost any more. Something like a shower gel is now £9, plus £3.50 for your subscription, plus postage. The serums or moisturisers all work out at about £20 once you've factored everything in. That's a real luxury for me, and I might consider paying it in a shop when I can test the products and only buy when I need something, but it's just not worth it for an awkward subscription service where you're tied in by a monthly charge and you can't test anything before buying. I end up buying a lot of things that I wouldn't have gone for if I could have tested the scent/colour/texture etc and for that to be justified it's got to be good value!

I feel like the 'we only charge what it costs us to buy from the manufacturer' line is a lie - every product is at least double the price now than it was in 2017, when presumably they had fewer customers and were making smaller orders. https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com/fashion/2017/jan/21/beauty-pie-luxury-makeup-at-factory-prices-buyers-club-sali-hughes

Eeeesh, sorry for the rant! I'll just cancel my subscription and get over it. I'm just annoyed at how they've gone about this and irritated that I've got a load of 'allowance' saved up that I can't bring myself to spend Angry

emsyj37 · 24/05/2020 15:17

I'm starting to think it's not as much of a bargain as it first seemed. All the moisturisers are full of dimethicone which really disagrees with my skin (weirdly aside from the Japanfusion one which is the most silicone-y of all but seems ok!) I love the lipsticks and I enjoy the ceremony of getting a nice box through the post and unwrapping everything but I'm spending loads as I think probably only 50% of what I buy turns out to be as good as I had hoped. I might downgrade or cancel soon. I'm tempted by the sound of the new perfume tho and they seem to be constantly adding new products so the FOMO might lure me in again....

Lamentations · 24/05/2020 16:25

They sent an email out explaining price hikes were due to ingredient price changes due to covid. They seem to be saying they are very busy so I don't think it's a lack of orders.

I really like BP but you do have to work out the real price when considering if a purchase is worth it. I'm trying out the Super Healthy Skin anti aging cream at the moment, which is nice but is not actually the £14.36 it's listed out once you add the £10 subs I've paid to buy it (because retail value = £100) plus postage. So when I use it I'm really weighing up whether it's worth £25-30 and what else I could buy for that price that might compare.

emsyj37 · 24/05/2020 17:13

I wasn't that impressed with the anti ageing cream. I will use it up but I won't repurchase. The Japanfusion Supreme Cream has done a good job of stopping the peeling and dryness with my tretinoin use. I think that one works out a bit cheaper. I do think the prices have increased significantly and whilst I understand why, I liked BP as a more luxurious feeling alternative to Superdrug type products. I'm not really interested in spending £25-30 on a moisturiser. The luxe shine lipsticks and one powder wonder are lovely tho. Worth the increased prices.

Housewife2010 · 24/05/2020 17:42

I'm a long term member and have downgraded to £5 a month as I have so much allowance saved. The new prices would work out more expensive for me than the £10 I'm saving during the payment holiday. I'm going to wait a while to order to see if the prices drop. The Plantastic cleansing balm used to be around £10. It's now £15. I do have some favourite products which I repeat buy but I find many of the products are overly scented - the lipsticks particularly.

MabelMoo23 · 24/05/2020 20:56

I’ve just joined, I had a free month code. I’m going to give it a bash, and if I hate it after 3 months then I’ll just cancel. I fully admit though I was just bored

Marble2302 · 24/05/2020 21:16

Is the stuff any good? It keeps popping up on my Facebook feed and I am tempted. Any recommedations?
