Lindy Hop gone into administration

I've just gone into their site to waste some money and found this. I'm unaccountably sad! I know a lot of their stuff was a bit cartoony and that whole pin-up thing has been done to death, but their plainer dresses are so flattering for those of us with hourglass/curvy figures. Must've happened recently too - DD bought a dress from them last week 😢

Aww no. I love Lindy a Bop. Most of my dresses are from there. Sad

Oldraver · 19/04/2020 10:58

Yes I saw this a day or so ago when I was clicking on links (from a 3 year old thread) and they weren't working. I didnt realise it's a recent thing as haven't been on there for ages.

I love a good retro frock

Oldraver · 19/04/2020 11:00

OP Lady V have a 30%off with APRIL30 code

I got this for around £20 including postage

SayNotoArtificialLipids · 19/04/2020 11:03

Oh no, I love Lindy Bop 😔

ChloeDecker · 19/04/2020 13:24

Gutted to read this. They are my go to for dresses! Been buying from the multiple times a year, for years!
So sad for them. Thank you for my lovely dresses Lindy Bop!

PalindromicUser · 19/04/2020 17:17

@Oldraver how does the sizing come up at Lady V? I found Lindy Bop massively variable in the past, erring on the generous size.

Can also recommend Dolly and Dotty for Lindy Bop fans.

Oldraver · 20/04/2020 09:05

@PalindromicUser. I would say small. I wear 16 in most average shops, White Stuff, Joe Browns etc and I had to send the 16 back. I wore that dress yesterday and the 18 was a comfy fit

Oldraver · 20/04/2020 09:22

I've also had a Dolly and Dotty and while the size was true, it was made for someone a good three inches taller than me.

It was a standard tea/hepburn dress style and as it so long in the body the gathered waist seem was down on my hips

Made me look like I was more Amish than 50's goddess

PalindromicUser · 20/04/2020 09:49

@Oldraver that’s a shame, I’m 5’4” and the recent 50’s ones (18 months I suppose) I’ve had from them have been pleasingly between lower knee and mid calf.

Have ordered some Lady V and Collectif to try following a good list of places to try on from [[https://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/style_and_beauty/2934347-Anybody-dress-in-a-50s-style]]

HippoRampage · 20/04/2020 09:56

Vivien of Holloway is another great shop with a similar style.

Sad to hear Lindy Bop is gone though.

Oldraver · 20/04/2020 14:15

@PalindromicUser.. I think there is a varience though.

OH bought me a Christmas tea dress from Lady V and it fits well. The recent butterfly tea dress is too long in the body and I'm going to have to shorten.

I'd sent this dress back once years ago then they never had the fabric again but still wnated that dress.

HermioneWeasley · 20/04/2020 14:18

Oh no! I buy from them regularly (and had a dress to return...)

TheDogsMother · 20/04/2020 14:34

Take a look at House of Foxy. The do vintage styles for many decades.

yellowbluebell · 20/04/2020 19:35

Gutted, I love their stuff

ThePlantsitter · 20/04/2020 19:37

That is a shame! Popsy do nice vintagey dresses too.

HoneysuckIejasmine · 20/04/2020 19:42

Yes they went a week or so ago. Glad I ordered the dungaree dress when I did, I'd have been gutted to miss out on it, although I don't strictly need more dresses.

Really sad they've gone under though, there were lots of classic shapes I really liked. Hopefully their old stock will pop up somewhere else soon. I do remember seeing their stock on a different website once before but don't remember where.

EvilPea · 20/04/2020 19:47

Ladyv comes up on the small side. But they are beautiful.

sakura06 · 28/05/2020 14:41

Oh no! I just found out! I loved Lindy Bop.

whattheheck2 · 29/05/2020 12:23

I am gutted! I loved their summer dresses, and I have one I was going to return.

Zoe Vine does lovely dresses and they have 50% off this weekend with code flash50. I have my eye on this one. But not sure about the colour.

peachypetite · 29/05/2020 12:44

Bloody hell @whattheheck2 £110 for polyester!

whattheheck2 · 29/05/2020 12:54

I already have one of their dresses and it is really nice quality. Plus they have a massive sale on.

polkadotqueen · 04/07/2020 15:36

Gutted! I've recently bought some stunning retro dresses and cardigans for my girls from BlackButterfly, some of their pieces are stunning especially for the little ones!
