Can we have another one of these threads please? I know there’s not much need what with lock down right now but I want to completely overhaul my style to look classy and will be starting from complete scratch!

What are the key items I would need to get me started?

Hi can I ask if anyone has used a made to measure service for clothes? I keep reading that well fitting clothes help you look polished but as a 5’, size 16, used to be an hourglass but now just blubbery, it’s hard to find things that fit. I e seen a few advertising like Sumissura and would be prepared to spend £80 on a dress and £120 on a jacket if they were worth it but not if they’re not so to speak

Expensive and polished is not mutually exclusive though. My mother in law is always immaculately presented. Nearly 80 and from the West Indies. Glossy skin, hair done, simple but ironed clothes. She is stunning. My mum is “expensive”. Expensive treatments. Expensive clothes, expensive hair. She is also 15 years younger than my MIL. She has never, ever looked polished.

To me polished is what suits you and your personality. For me it’s bronzed outdoorsy skin, Coral lips, small diamond earrings. Highlighted hair, red short nails. Neutral clothes.
My best friend has that boho chic thing going on. Very pale skin, hair in messy bun, eccentric jewellery. Arty clothes. She most def look polished to me

I’ve spent lockdown learning how to do my own nails (gel) and I think nicely manicured nails, short with flawless polish helps to look expensive.
