help me decided handbag #1 or #2

I need a new handbag. I always only have one and wear it to death before replacing (5-6 years). So it is extra important that I pick the 'right' one as I don't have a collection to draw from. I use it mainly for work (purse, phone, an apple and a sandwich).

Which one do you think looks nicer (and will age better - don't wanna replace soon).

For me it would be number 1, I like that it has slightly longer handles that could go over my arm if I wanted rather than just the grab bag straps that are just for holding in your hand.

First one

Number 1

MistyMinge2 · 17/04/2020 09:23

I'd go for number one for same reasons as previous poster. I'd want the versatility of being able to wear on shoulder, or, cross body.

Rainb0w · 17/04/2020 09:36

Number 1 is a lot more versatile.

merryhouse · 17/04/2020 09:44

First one. Not sure why: I would have thought I'd say don't go for the one with obvious zips but I actually think it looks nicer.

Tonz · 17/04/2020 09:50

First one

strawberry2017 · 17/04/2020 09:58

I don't like either to be honest but if I had to chose I'd chose the first one.

ellanwood · 17/04/2020 10:11

I think they are both beautiful but slightly prefer no 1.

xoxoluna · 17/04/2020 10:30

#1 looks nicer. #2 looks like a briefcase because of the handles.

Diyhaircutgonewrong · 17/04/2020 10:41

Thanks. I was leaning towards #1 anyways so will run with that!

Number 1

HelloJohnGotANewMotor · 17/04/2020 10:51

Number 1 looks nicer- but does it zip closed?? I would never buy a bag with an open top

Diyhaircutgonewrong · 17/04/2020 10:57

hellojohn, description explicitly states it is :)

I would not want an open bag either.

First one has a lovely rich colour and I like the metal details. It has more character than 2.

Not keen on either tbh. The colour and finish appear quite old fashioned not in a good way. Number 2 looks slightly more modern.

ZaraW · 18/04/2020 09:45

I agree the colour and finish doesn't look great.

ZaraW · 18/04/2020 09:49

There are much nicer bags out there in your budget. Obviously, this might not be to your taste. Lots of sales on at the moment.

Diyhaircutgonewrong · 18/04/2020 09:51

I really don't like that style, Zara but thank you for posting nevertheless. It's too 'polished' for me (if that makes sense).

How about Etsy?

Diyhaircutgonewrong · 18/04/2020 10:01

had a look there. It is just so overwhelming what's on there (did I mention I only get a handbag every 5-6 years - I am not good with shopping) but will have another look. I won't buy before the lockdown is over as there are question marks about my job now.

Any etsy sellers you could recommend?

I've used Littlehandbagco based in the UK and Roughandtumble which are in the US. Probably not worth shopping the US site has shipping was expensive.
