Tutorial for cutting DH's receding hairline?

Spanneroo · 16/04/2020 19:37

DH is only 28 so he's very self-conscious of it, and regularly on work video conferences. He usually has it a medium length on top and shorter at the sides. Very pronounced widow's peak, bless him.

Does anyone have any recommendations for tutorials for cutting hair like this? I have clippers, a comb, and scissors. We are not expecting it to look perfect by any stretch!

We gave up and just clippered DH's all over... the top is too wispy to cut !

Sorry I can't help but came on to ask exactly the same question! Short all over is not an option unfortunately

@cremedesudo Yes, same length all over really accentuates the missing patches, does it? Grin

I'll be tackling it as best I can on the weekend anyway so will let you know how I get on!

Yes it really does Grin

Let me know if you find any helpful tutorials or if you have any tips! I'm most nervous about trying to blend!

Go bald...?! Grin

@bagelsandbrie Grin i did suggest it. But he says he has a weird head. To be fair, he does (he was a micropreemie so it got some odd moulding). He wasn't pleased with my suggestion that it "might not be as bad as he thinks" Grin

Quick update, I used this tutorial

But didn't cut straight across on top. I did it more feathery. Its not brilliant, but it's not awful.

I have since spoken to DH's usual barber. Next time we are going to video chat him and he'll talk me through how to do the top part and we will wire him a fee. Perfect win-win imo. He will be reaching out to other clients to see if they'd be interested in doing the same.

Thank you! I haven't braved it yet.

Good idea re the barber - I don't think DH knows his well enough but a good idea!

This a a really good tutorial! Going to have a go tomorrow I think.
