I have a lot of clothes in my wardrobe and normally at this time of year I'd be buying my summer things but this year I have no desire to buy anything. I presume it is heightened anxiety due to Covid coupled with the fact that the only place I go out to is work because of lock down.

I keep getting adverts and emails telling me i should be buying clothes to look comfortable and elegant at home, but to be honest I'm quite happy in my old gym leggings and a T shirt, or last years summer dresses. Is this usual or am in the process of letting myself go?

Well, it's only been 3 weeks

DH and I have been WFH for 5 weeks and the kids have been off school for 4. It feels like forever. Can't imagine going back to work any time soon, even if lockdown ends we'll still need to socially distance and WFH if possible.

Yes! And i look back in shame at what I used to spend $$ on. Like ugg boots for 4 year old DS - 40 quid. Arrrgh. I hate the old me!

Eesha · 18/04/2020 02:58

Same here, loads of lovely clothes already and nowhere to wear them so I'm not buying anything else. No wonder shops are going under.

SpeckledyHen · 18/04/2020 06:00

Not spent a single penny on anything S & B related for over a month and not even looked at anything online .

TheChampagneGalop · 18/04/2020 11:13

I felt that way at first, but now I want to buy a nice spring/summer dress to cheer me up. It boosts my morale to not just wear loungewear at home.

peachypetite · 18/04/2020 11:19

I’ve realised how few clothes you really need! Most of us probably have wardrobes bursting but don’t wear that much of it.

tontie · 18/04/2020 11:26

I was trying not to spend as who knows the job situ in 3 months but actually I've spent loads on games, toys & crafts for the kids, wine & photo/picture frames. Finally got around to hanging my prints & putting my photos up, it's expensive!

threesecrets · 18/04/2020 14:13

Oh dear... being stuck at home has meant I have spent more than I would usually but I am normally an online shopper

Rainb0w · 18/04/2020 16:13

My money has been going on sending gifts to my friends.
Treated myself to a really nice bag and cashmere travel set at the start of march other than that nothing else I do keep looking just seem to lack the desire to check my vertual shopping basket out.

JaceLancs · 18/04/2020 21:36

I am a real shopaholic but don’t do much online shopping so am really struggling
Doesn’t help that I’m working from home so not dressing up in same way
Gaining weight making me feel like not buying clothes in a bigger size
Did buy some shoes on eBay tonight to cheer myself up
I’m just generally feeling what’s the point?

RaggieDolls · 18/04/2020 21:44

No, I keep looking at things and nearly buying but then I think 'what's the point' as I have enough already.

I am also aware that it would be a bit needless to make a trip to the post office for any returns given I didn't need clothes in the first place.

I did get some new t shirts for DCs though.

MinesaPinot · 18/04/2020 23:27

I've bought some things from Zara, but they are wearable even while WFH. other than that I've just ordered some toiletries from Avon and Boots as I would do normally, and topped up on French soaps and handwashtoday.

MrsFogi · 18/04/2020 23:48

I'd love to buy (particularly with all the sails) however I am too worried about what will happen to the economy over the coming months, so am only buying necessities (which doesn't include more clothes!).

IDefinitelyHaveFriends · 18/04/2020 23:58

I bought three very lovely dresses for teen DD from Lindybop in their ten pound sale and they dispatched them literally hours before they called the liquidators in, so that’s made me very wary of buying anything on line in the near future. Fortunately they all fitted her (she’s had dresses from them in the past so was fairly confident about the sizing).

I could do with some more gym kit, but the advantage of being at home in good weather is that I can always put a load of washing on, so I don’t need as many clothes.

EngagedAgain · 19/04/2020 00:01

Not really but this year I need another skirt, a few tops and sandals. I don't buy online so shall have to get them from the supermarket.

VeniceBeach · 19/04/2020 00:01

I think most people already have leggings/sweatshirts for lounging at home. I just haven’t felt the desire for any more. Most of the time I’m just wearing my normal clothes because I need to look semi-presentable for work calls and because it keeps my mood up.

I’ve been tempted by a couple of beauty things but I’d feel uncomfortable having people working in warehouses and out delivering parcels just so I can have a new lipstick. I know places need to stay in business though...
