Thinking about pink hair

Anyone with natural blonde hair tried one of the temporary colour conditioners or shampoos to get rose gold hair rather than fuchsia?

I’ve looked at some reviews and instagram photos and Mila Nila Pink Pop and Bleach London Rose are looking like contenders. Any other good ones I can do some more research on?

Ooh I did this a few months back! I used the XXL Live purple punk (I think that's what it's called) and it came out a gorgeous pink. Only lasted a week or so before it all washed out but it looked ace for a few days Grin

Oh that looks a little vibrant for me! Did you mix with a lot of conditioner to get the pastel? Also a little bit nervous about it being a permanent dye although I know reds fade very quickly.

I didn't mix with conditioner, just followed the instructions. It definitely wasn't purple, although deeper pink on the darker parts of my hair. I was also stupidly nervous, having never coloured my hair before! I can only speak from experience, but it really didn't stay in my hair much longer than a week. I'll see if I can find a photo....

Found a photo! Not the best example, but the only one I have. As you can see, I only did about two thirds of my hair (I lifted up about a third in a top knot and dyed the underneath). This was due to 'the fear' Grin

I have used the Guy Tang metallic rose gold before and loved it

L'Oreal do a spray in one if you want to test the look first - I use it on my roots

Lovelymonkeyninetynine · 15/04/2020 20:14

Do bleach London but leave on for enough time, don't get the fear too soon as it needs time to take. Do it, it's addictive!!

MulberryPeony · 15/04/2020 20:47

Thanks for the pic. I think I’d be a bit disappointed lol.

Ooh a spray but would it look flat and chalky like dry shampoo or hair chalk?

How long for the bleach London and from dry hair or damp?

And finally - do it all over of highlights/streaks?

You'd be disappointed with what? With hair like @TheLittleGreenToaster? How rude.

InTheSummerhouse · 15/04/2020 21:02

Her hair is beautiful! The colour is gorgeous. If I were younger I would love to do that!

Snooks1971 · 15/04/2020 21:06

@TheLittleGreenToaster your hair looks amazing! I would never be disappointed with a result like that!

MulberryPeony · 15/04/2020 21:08

I’d be disappointed because it’s not pink enough not because it’s not beautiful.

I have but my hair is ombre bleached so I only did the bottom of my hair from my earlobes down.

My worry was the washing out but it took about 4 washes and just faded each time, but it was baby pink not bright.

Tie off a small section of hair that would usually hide under your hair if you had it down, then tie the rest of your hair out of the way and do a strand test. Time it, write down the times, and see what you are happy with. Then wash your hair and see how many washes it takes to remove the colour.

I only did mine after my hairdresser told me it would come out of my hair, and obviously we were not in lockdown Grin

Nishky · 15/04/2020 21:11

@TheLittleGreenToaster that looks beautiful- Very clever the way you did it

TheLittleGreenToaster · 15/04/2020 22:24

Ahh thanks for the hair compliments, you've made my day! I knew what you meant @MulberryPeony. I think blonde hair just won't get the depth of colour that darker hair will, but the results are still pretty cool!

MrsElijahMikaelson1 · 15/04/2020 22:29

Try L’Oreal Colorista-always works for me and have been using it for a couple of years.

Pink in particular doesn’t last long as the pigment doesn’t stick so well-is you do blue/purple it stays forever!

Schwarzkopf do a spray in pastel spray which is quite good and very quick as you spray it in and just dry your hair, but it is tricky to get hold of.

SwedishEdith · 15/04/2020 22:39

You can use a pink highlighter pen. They work quite well.

kuuskajaskari · 15/04/2020 22:49

I've been every colour under the sun over the last couple of years. I normally use Bleach London at home and generally stick to rose pink and rose gold

@kuuskajaskari what is the first one? That’s the shade I’m after. I’m presuming yours is onto bleached/very light blonde hair though.

I tried some online hair colouring apps and the blues/greens and corals just don’t suit my colouring as much as the lilacs to rose pinks do @MrsElijahMikaelson1 not to mention how fun they are trying on different colours.

Pink highlighter you say @SwedishEdith. I even have a pastel pink highlighter. Might be brave and try that later and see if DH notices!

@MontysOarlock thanks for the trialing tips too.

Watching with envy! I’d love to try pink hair but I’m a brunette and can’t face bleaching and roots etc. So I’m planning to do it when I go grey. Love the beautiful pics!
