Sandals for ankle problems

I have Achilles tendonitis in one ankle and i need some sandals for summer to wear with dresses (prob tan or red). Just walking is agony even in birkenstocks. Over winter I seem to be in less pain when wearing something with a slight heel.

These keep popping up on FB, probably because I've googled. Do you think they'd help? Are they really that awful?

Doctor has suggested ice / heat / pain killers but it's been 9 months and still no better so looks like I'll need to struggle on over the summer!

I have no idea about those ones you've posted, although I like them, but I did want to say that Fitflops practically cured my achilles tendon problem (after nine months of physio and not much working). That and using a slant board to stretch my calves. There are plenty of hideous Fitflops, but some of them are quite nice and plenty have that slight wedge heel. Btw, my doctor told me never to wear completely flat shoes again.

Poor you, that sounds horrible.

Sorry but those sandals are heinous.

Birkenstock do a good few wedges

I've gotten nice low wedges from Spanish manufacturers- usually in independent shoe shops, not chains.

I'd imagine birks would be better for you though as you'd need a good stable sandal, with adjustable straps. It would be agony if you wobbled and twisted your ankle at all.

Thank you I didn't realise that birkenstock made wedges. Forgot to add that a back strap is also needed for work (should we ever be allowed back).
