Chuck it away!!

EatingIsMyHobby · 15/04/2020 18:35

I used to love Primark 10 or so years ago but not so much now; their prices have gone up a lot whilst their quality has not improved. I, too, like H&M (although their sizing can be weird!).

It does feel as though the range of places for clothes buying is getting narrower and narrower.

Irishmums · 15/04/2020 18:39

I didn’t know oasis had gone into administration and I have just ordered some stuff online . My friend then told me .

What are the chances it won’t arrive . Surely if the online was gone the website would have shut off ?

Thighmageddon · 15/04/2020 19:03

@MrsFionaCharming

Debenhams are still trading online so your order should come with an obvious CV delay.

VenusClapTrap · 15/04/2020 19:08

I suspect Monsoon is in trouble. They have been discounting heavily pretty much continually, and our local branch has just closed down. This makes me very sad - I worked for them twenty odd years ago when I was a young flibbertygibbet and they were a lovely company to work for. Ethical factories before anyone cared about that sort of thing, and genuinely nice to their staff.

Snowymascot · 16/04/2020 10:02

I am gutted about Oasis and I really feel for all their staff. have no idea where I will shop if they close the online side (Im secretly hoping that will stay), although I a;ways loved shopping in store.

I find Next. Bit frumpy and I’ve never seen anything in H&M or Zara, Primark to me is just full of cheap tat, Top Shop is too young for me. River island is okay.

Longdistance · 16/04/2020 10:44

I agree about Monsoon. They closed our local branch and the Accessorize next to it.
We’ve had a massive Next built on a retail park and they moved out of the shopping centre.
But, I’m really guilty as I have zero time to go shopping, so do it online. Working full time and spending time with my family is my priority and I can’t abide walking around the shops not being able to get my size in things and being told to order it online 🤷🏼‍♀️

ElspethFlashman · 16/04/2020 11:26

I'll regret if Monsoon goes, as I always seem to find something in there for weddings and Christmas parties. Though I don't know anyone who buys day to day clothes in there which is probably a bad sign.

I love their jewellery though as the silver plated/gold plated stuff is brilliant.

Warehouse has been terrible for years. Very expensive, very dark colours and very small sizing. No I don't fancy going up two sizes, thanks.

Oasis is a bit better but I think people mainly bought jeans there and nowadays people buy that stuff elsewhere.

I think TopShop has definitely outlived it's day. Ours is always empty and the clothes really don't look that trendy, yet only 20 year olds can wear them cos everything is cropped. And it's pricey. So who is buying them? Not many, it seems.

ElspethFlashman · 16/04/2020 11:28

Btw is Wallis gone completely?

Our local one closed down a few months ago. They were always brilliant for a black shift dress that'd hide a multitude.

Thighmageddon · 16/04/2020 11:31

Elspeth Wallis have concessions in Debenhams and a Next online. I think they might sell through Very online too.

SinisterBumFacedCat · 16/04/2020 12:14

I’ve only ever bought wedding outfits from Moonsoon, but I will be bloody gutted if Accessorize go, I love it in there, although it’s got a bit more muted lately, I think that’s due to fashion. I miss the colour coordinated displays heavy on beads and sequins from the 00’s.

Ticklemeelmo · 16/04/2020 15:42

So gutted to hear that about Oasis, it's been one of my go-to shops on the high street for years.

Wallis are fine online, as far as I know. I just received an order from them yesterday.
I can't believe all these shops going into administration. What will be left for us; even online?

VenusClapTrap · 16/04/2020 16:05

Monsoon knitwear is lovely. I’ve had a couple of nice beach dresses from there too.

Longdistance · 16/04/2020 16:32

You can Wallis delivered through Zalando if anyone is interested? They do free delivery from a certain amount. I get free delivery from £19.90. Look out for codes with them. They have an app too.

BubblesBuddy · 16/04/2020 17:44

Wallis is Arcadia - Philip Green. Monsoon were reported to be in serious financial trouble last autumn. I think a few people need to read the FT and get up to date on the extent of high street fashion finance problems!

mynamesmrdiggety · 16/04/2020 17:48

They closed the Canary Wharf oasis when I was on maternity leave, already closed next and French connection I think. I don't think french connection will survive. I'm guessing I'm pretty much their target market and never set foot in the place.

liquoriceallsortfamily · 16/04/2020 18:18

I ordered online from oasis two days ago. Do you think it will still be delivered? X

Frankiefree · 16/04/2020 20:14

It’s strange because there was a Warehouse skirt that I saw on a few influencers I follow on Instagram this winter that I loved the look of, but when I tried to order it it was sold out everywhere, also not available on Next and John Lewis sites.

Then just before the lockdown I went on the Next Sale online and the skirt was available in every size! I ordered it, but didn’t like the colour when it arrived so sent it back. Not processed the refund yet. But wonder why all those skirts were available now, and not in the winter when they could have sold them?

Snowymascot · 16/04/2020 20:28

liquoriceallsortfamily I think it will still arrive as in the news the other day it said online was still operating. I’ve place an order today and I’ve received an email saying it has been received and will be processed x

Nooooo. I have so many dresses from Oasis. They are good for hourglasses. Sad.
