Need some supportive sandals

I've officially got to that age where I can no long walk in flip flops.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a slip on sandal that supports your feet properly.

I hate having my feet covered in the summer but my usual flip flops now give me a painful hip.

Oh god I'm middle aged aren't I!

Have you tried Birkenstocks?

NoLongerAnEasyTarget · 14/04/2020 16:16

Not recently. Tried them years ago and found they were very hard and the shape they were moulded didn't suit my feet. I have weird shaped feet! V wide at the front, v skinny at the back, with a high arch.

Have you looked at Saltwater sandals? They do a slip on version.

Teva! Some of the styles are a bit rugged or sporty but I can walk for miles in them.

Thanks I will have a look at their websites.

Does anyone have any experience of these?

Fitflops! Loads of different styles and amazingly comfortable.

I live and die in fit-flops. Loads of different styles

Birkenstock's have some soft footbed ones and the pool versions are amazingly comfortable

Hotter - not cheap but well made

Bagelsandbrie · 14/04/2020 20:21

Saltwater sandals look lovely but are completely flat, no padding underfoot whatsoever.

For comfy supportive sandals I always go to Clarks. If you google “Clarks outlet” their sale website comes up and you might find some bargains.

Bionics and Hotter. Hotter work better for me. I found the avionics ok for an evening but not for a whole day. Tbh when I'm at the beach or by the pool Crocs are best. They're very supportive which I need as I suffer with plantar fasciitis.

I hope you manage to find something that works for you.
