Hi S&B,

My 9 year old has dark brown hair but would love to have it dyed during Lockdown. He's after blue! Does anyone have any tips on how I can do this please? Would I need to bleach it first?

Thanks!

You will definitely need to bleach first.

You could try temporary colour sprays from L’Oréal?

What shade of blue?

Unfortunately as he naturally has dark hair, he naturally has lots of orange/red pigments in his hair so unless you bleach his hair to blonde, the shade of blue might look muddy/green/teal/darker than he wants

Also I’d recommend colouring a section rather than his full head

Hmm not sure I'm brave enough for bleach.

bumping for ideas.

Your options are beach to blonde (probably 3 times) and then dye blue, or use a coloured spray. Spay will probably not be very visible and will transfer, bleach and dye will work but the hair will be frazzled.
