Has anyone tried the New Estee Lauder Futurist foundation?

It looks great, like some sort of Holy Grail!

I've ordered one from John Lewis and paid £32.50. It is usually £36 elsewhere.

I hope it will look nice. I never use anything else other than EL. It never seems to work. My only upset with this is it comes in only 2p shades.

Double wear light (my usual foundation) comes in over double that I think. My usual shade is Fawn (3.1 and a half). They only had Tawny which is a shade lighter but is actually a lot darker in double wear.

So for every warmth, there is only 1 choice. So 1w1 or 2w1 or 3w1. Or 5N1 or 6N1.

If you've tried it, do you like it?

I managed to get a shade match done just before everything closed and love it, it’s really light but good coverage and my tester sample has lasted ages!

Sorry I accidentally posted on your thread I've requested it to be removed . However I've been using the Estée Lauder foundation and I've been really happy with it , I find I need to have well moisturised skin so I can blend it .

middleager · 13/04/2020 09:34

Yes. I normally buy cheap foundation, but happened to be in a department store in Feb when they persuaded me to splash out.

I love it. The coverage is spot on, not too thick or thin. It makes my skin glow for the first time in years (well when combined with the serum they also persuaded me to buy and the moisturiser in the gift!)

My only gripe might be the colour match. It feels a little light.

If I normally wear 2c3 fresco in the double wear, which shade should I choose, does anyone know?

Trapordo · 13/04/2020 14:20

kiss go for 2C1 x

I wear 2C3. I am naturally very pale and this was colour matched by the consultant.
However, it still looks too light to me.

middleager · 13/04/2020 15:28

Is 2C1 darker or paler than 2C3 (Fresco)?

ClientQ · 13/04/2020 15:49

Yes and it's gorgeous on me! Foundation often clings to dry patches but this doesn't. I wear porcelain 1N0 which is the lightest shade

Trapordo · 13/04/2020 16:10

middle 2C1 would be lighter. This is always the case for paler shades. But o'ce you reach 3W for some reason 3W1 is darker than 3w1.5 (the latter is more yellow, the former more gold). But anyway that isn't relevant so sorry for waffling Grin

Client. Glad you liked it. Is it long wearing like the other double wears?

I would love to try it as I wear double wear light and have done for years. I am 1C1 though, and Estée Lauder doesn’t make it in that shade.

Trapordo · 13/04/2020 16:20

Well maybe worth a sample when you can. Apparently this particular foundation comes up a bit darker than the usual double wear light

I mix and match between Ivory Beige 3N1 and Shell Beige 4N1 in Doublewear. Ivory Beige is my winter colour and She'll Beige my summer one then I mix them if necessary between times. I got colour matched for the new foundation before Lockdown and came away with Wheat which is 3N2. This is just right for me at the moment. I love the new foundation. It goes on really nicely and doesn't look awful around the eyes which DW does on me these days. Bought a full size with 15% off from Debenhams the other week.

WellTidy · 13/04/2020 19:01

That’s good news for me Trap, thanks!

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 13/04/2020 20:02

I had a sample of it. The colour match was great, and it was lovely and glowy, but I looked really shiny very quickly, and after a couple of days I broke out really badly. That might have been a coincidence, but I binned it after that.

thisenglishlife · 13/04/2020 21:53

It's 20% off on the Estee Lauder website tonight (just bought one). I guessed my shade two days before lockdown and asked for a sample at a counter. They weren't doing shade matches, but were giving samples.

It spreads so easily, meaning you can get away with a shade up or down. They also have N, C or W in the names (to represent neutral, cool or warm undertones), making it easier!
