Will we see any royals out and about anytime soon?

There's a feature on Princess Anne as a style icon on the Hello website which shows some outfits I hadn't seen before dating from the early 70s til the late 80s.
I've tried sharing but it keeps giving a single word. Somebody more technologically savvy than me might be able to help.

There's also a quiz type feature about which real life prince to marry. I might try it later if I get bored. It made me think of those quizzes in Jackie magazine to find out what kind of boy you should go out with. Showing my age there! 😁

This is my favourite- just stunning.

PA was very good looking but her style choices, and I'm taking into account it was a different era, weren't great.

Thank you for sorting the link, CanIhavea penguinplease.
That shade of blue is lovely on her.
I quite like the spotted dress in the 1st picture.

Love a bit of Princess Anne. I think she might be my favourite royal. I think / hope she has the very best of Royal life. Privacy, duties lighthouses.

Boucheron Ruby and Diamond Bandeau Necklace

On July 12, 2017, Kate wore to the state banquet for King Felipe a stunning statement necklace that has a long and fascinating history.

The Hon. Mrs. Ronald Greville purchased this necklace from Boucheron in 1907. When she died, she left her magnificent and vast jewelry collection to the royal family. This necklace was one of the items sent to them.

Upon Queen Elizabeth II’s marriage to Prince Phillip (at the time, she was Princess Elizabeth) her parents gave her this necklace as a wedding gift.

The Queen wore this necklace up until the 1980s, and in the following years it would lay in the vault until Kate brought it back into the public’s eye.

The necklace is of course, a statement piece. Numerous white diamonds are set into the frame to create floral clusters. Interpersed among the diamonds are ruby stones.

Two “spines” of diamond rows line the exterior and interior of the necklace to frame the floral clusters and create an established structure to guide the design. A large diamond pendant drop is affixed to the base of the entire piece.

That necklace is a strange choice with that dress Kate is wearing. Rubies with pink? And the the pearl earrings and tiara?

FiveTwoFaster · 26/04/2020 21:53

Rubies are usually pinkish. I was shown a fiendishly expensive natural ruby at a Garrards demonstration thing and “pigeons blood” is a little pink. It had been officially categorised as that most prized description. I was very surprised as I assumed it would be more a rich unmistakably dark red like a garnet. Everyone said “but it’s pink!” when they held it up.

Ninkanink · 26/04/2020 21:56

Even if it were red, it’s still perfectly fine to wear with pink, IMO. Yes it’s nice to coordinate sometimes but it’s also fun to play with it a little.

And the royals do often mix and match necklace with earrings/tiara, presumably because otherwise it would quickly become boring - one would always have to wear ruby with ruby, pearl with pearl, etc, etc, when sometimes one presumably wants to show off various things at once...

Ninkanink · 26/04/2020 21:58

A ruby is just a red sapphire, isn’t it? So it stands to reason there would be every shade represented, just as there is in the blue with sapphires.

Ninkanink · 26/04/2020 22:00

Or with any precious stones, I guess.

This. I can’t get my head around rich old ladies leaving their jewellery to the Royal family

megletthesecond · 26/04/2020 23:54

Maybe they knew it would be looked after within the royal family.
Still a bit odd though. But I've never owned jewels so who knows what the owners think.

AngelaScandal · 27/04/2020 00:03

Maybe @meglet

Or the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland tiara... funded by a committee who raised money to buy Queen whoever a tiara ... as if they couldn’t fund their own tiaras...

Rhubarbisevil · 27/04/2020 08:14

Here you go - the Queen Mother was a favourite of Mrs G, hence why she left her the jewellery.

CanIHaveAPenguinPlease · 27/04/2020 08:33

Dh bought me a lovely pink ring sapphire for our 10th wedding anniversary. It’s quite boodles like but without the price tag as it’s from Hatton garden. I wear it everyday as I love it so much.

AngelaScandal · 27/04/2020 09:15

Thanks @Rhubarbisevil

Ninkanink · 27/04/2020 10:38

I think custodians of jewellery like that do feel a certain responsibility to look after it well, and to pass it on in such a way that it will continue to be looked after in keeping with its brilliance and beauty. It makes sense to bequeath it for posterity. Plus...everyone mentions her when that tiara is talked about, which means her name is still known now. In a sense she’s kept her legacy alive.

QueenOfTheAndals · 27/04/2020 10:43

New photos of the Dutch royals. Is that a dress or a jumpsuit on Max?

Jumpsuit I think.

There’s a bit of middle child teenage angst in that picture!

Rhubarbisevil · 27/04/2020 11:41

Oh, doesn’t Max have the most radiant smile? She could light up any darkened room (girl crush).

frugalkitty · 27/04/2020 11:53

Apparently, the 'better' a ruby is the pinker it should be. And garnets should be more red than burgundy if they're good quality.

Becles · 27/04/2020 11:54

Some old style royal style to dissect, the wedding of Princess Mary to Viscount Lascelles.

"Leading the list of attendants was Princess Maud of Fife, only daughter of Mary’s aunt, Princess Louise, the Princess Royal. Also among the group were two of Queen Mary’s nieces, Lady Mary Cambridge and Lady May Cambridge. The other four attendants were Lady Diana Bridgeman, Lady Mary Thynne, Lady Rachel Cavendish and Lady Doris Gordon-Lennox.

Their gowns featured a square neckline trimmed with lace with more lace decorating the end of their mid length sleeves. In line with the latest fashions, the bodices of the dresses had dropped waists and wide sashes that gave way to calf length skirts. The whole look mirrored the bride’s outfit with the women even wearing veils held in place by headdresses worn low on their foreheads in the style of the time."

FiveTwoFaster · 27/04/2020 11:59

Mrs Greville was friends with Alice Keppel!
