What bright colour tips on natural grey hair?

I have a chin length bob in my natural silver grey colour.
It usually looks good and is frequently complimented, but it's invariably going to lose its shape in the coming weeks. I've already missed one cut.
As a distraction I fancy just dyeing the last inch or so a bright colour, the bit that will cut off when I'm able to get it cut properly.

What colour lasts or at least fades nicely?
In the past I've used Schwartzkopf Live Sea Mermaid, wanting some teal flashes but it started off too blue (I guess because there is no yellow in my hair) then disappeared.

I fancy bright pink or violet?
How do these last?

Can't help but following as I'm after similar. Sounds like a good idea though, will look cool. How will you ensure it's even, if you don't mind me asking?

My 1st thought was violet. I'm very jealous of the sound of your hair! Have lots of fun with it.

Please show us a pic when you've done it!

Getting it even?
I've tried section it and I could definitely clip bits of the front and sides away from my face and safely apply colour to the ends.
The back is shorter (the infamous inverse bob) so I guess just use a tinting brush to paint the ends.
Or possibly ask my very dubious husband to do it.

Still unsure about colour but I understand that now everyone has enough loo rolls, what you can't buy is hair dye and hair clippers!

I struggle to keep any bright colour in my hair for more than a few washes. But my friends tell me that's normal for bright or pastel colours, they fade so easily, unfortunately! I'd go for a bright pink with your hair Smile

I saw a thing called a hair cutting clip on amazon, it's got a spirit level would you believe and is meant to be for cutting the back of your own hair with clippers (eg a bob). Might work well but like you say you'd have to work in smaller sections in order to avoid getting less at the front and more at the back. From experience I wouldn't let your DH do anything to it of that nature but it depends on the DH I suppose!

it's got a spirit level would you believe that is funny. Who can hold their head straight or still whilst trying to cut the back of their own hair? Good idea, but...

Sirthanksalot · 13/04/2020 11:33

well that's it isn't it. They made it look easy in the video but I'm sure in reality it'd be awful. Going to try not to be tempted to diy it whilst on lockdown.

Oops.
A box of Schwarzkopf Live Amethyst Chrome found its way into my trolley at Tesco yesterday....
