Help! thigh rub blisters

Terralee · 11/04/2020 18:11

I walked for 5 miles today with a family member, hadn't intended to walk so far so I just wore a dress as it was hot. I'd normally wear jeans / shorts on a long walk.
During the walk I became aware that my inner thighs were rubbing uncomfortably as I walked & were getting quite sore.
Now I'm home I can see the skin on both inner thighs is red & coming up in blisters.
I've applied Aqueous cream which has eased the soreness a bit & ive put leggings on.
Anyone got any other ideas how to deal with the blisters & the soreness? Is Savlon ok to use?

Just annoyed with myself really that this is an issue.

From personal experience, no sacking or anything wet. Keep it dry and wear leggings or something with no seams in the day, let the air in as much as possible.

Sacking? Savlon!

Thanks

Talc works well I think.

For future reference, I bought bodyglide followning recommendation on here, it’s great.

MissCharleyP · 11/04/2020 18:40

I’ve got something called Chafe Gel from Lancane. Vaseline works well if nothing else available.

I love Smooth 227g Chamois Anti Chaffing Cream with Shea Butter www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B002DR4ISI/ref=cmswrcpapiikdGKEbSHJJ3MY this]] from Amazon. Never had an issue since I started using it!

SummerSnapdragon · 11/04/2020 19:01

Not much use right now, but get some light cycling shorts to wear under skirts and dresses that'll do the trick! Wink

BusterGonad · 11/04/2020 19:03

Do not use talc or Vaseline, you need an anti fungal cream with hydrocortisone on it. Next time use Bodyglide or your deodrant.

I have always had this problem, whether fat or thin! I wear Big Bloomer Company shirts under a dress and over knickers. Perfect, problem solved. Except I look like sausage meat stuffed into them! Sect they are not! I got THAT desperate though!Grin

Inspiralcarpetry · 11/04/2020 19:22

That would be shorts. Shirts would be weird!

Slurpy · 12/04/2020 10:27

Next time, just put a bit of anti-perspirant roll-on between your thighs. This tip has changed my summers.

Rainbowshine · 12/04/2020 10:29

Snag do some shorts for preventing this, which I swear by in the summer. Hope that it gets better soon.

Terralee · 12/04/2020 11:06

This morning the blistering has gone down, but I've got sore grazed areas.
Will be wearing shorts today!
Thanks for all the replies.

Comfort shorts! Not the nicest thing but I have huge thighs and wouldn't be able to wear dresses without them .

thenightsky · 12/04/2020 15:37

big bloomer knickers are wonderful. I discovered them last summer.

loopy42 · 12/04/2020 15:58

Sudocrem for the blisters

And some anti chaffing bands for next time- they cost around £2 on eBay and have been a lifesaver for me in the past when I've been on holiday and doing more walking in the heat than normal

My USA friend raves about megababe thigh rescue.

I bought some chub rub shorts from snag tights, I've worn them for the first time today and they are amazing!! I feel much cooler, they are not sweaty at all and walking the dog wearing the dress was a joy. Definitely recommend, I'll be ordering more Smile

CoxwellHuge · 12/04/2020 16:25

I'm another who recommends the big bloomer company shorts. I've never been able to wear skirts or dresses in the summer before discovering the shorts last year. I absolutely love them, they are so comfortable and I wore skirts or dresses most days last summer, and since we've been having this lovely weather.
