How long do you keep tan lines for?

Was on a video call to my friend earlier today and she was amazed I still had visible tan lines from my last holiday (October, week in the Canaries so not exactly a long holiday). I thought it was pretty normal, she insists hers don’t last more than a month. She pointed out she all over exfoliates though so I’m guess it’s because I am a lazy cow do not Grin We’re both pretty pale.

So for those that do tan, what’s an average length of time for yours to last? She has made me paranoid and I am currently trying to even them out (under some factor 30!) in the garden...

Months! I've still got mine from Xmas. Only from my bikini bottoms, not the top though. I use high SPF and never burn, which I think makes the colour last longer.

My tan lasts a couple of months if I’m lucky. I catch it and lose it really quickly. My son and daughter have visible tan lines for at least six month. I get very jealous.

I don’t exfoliate either btw (also a lazy cow) lol

Not long! I was in Australia in January and came back fully tanned. Its all long gone, im white as a sheet.

I don't get noticeable tan lines. I use very high SPF. It sounds like permanent damage?

BeetrootRocks · 12/04/2020 01:54

I have permanent damage on my chest which shows when I shower etc even though been SPF 50 for years!

ChipShopChaCha · 12/04/2020 02:12

I got mild sunburn once (from about an hour unprotected) that was still visible 2 years later.

If I get tan lines they last for months and months. Well, I say tan lines but normally I go red, I'm so celtic fair I can't get a proper tan. So I've long since given up on trying to tan, use high factor sunscreen at the merest glimpse of sun and don't let myself get them as they look so awful.

I'm in Australia so use SPF 50 every day. I have year round permanent tan lines.

Live in the Middle East so am very careful about wearing a high SPF and being safe in the sun. But I still have tan lines most of the year, mainly bikini bottoms.

DH has a permanent ‘golfer’s tan’ Hmm and my kids both have T-shirt marks most of the year (ironically they only really fade in the summer months when it’s so hot, they rarely go outside)
