Best bb cream

I have dry skin on my face. Typically I use No. 7 Protect and Perfect, and no foundation / base.

I want to start using a light bb cream.

Any I've tried just pill, whether I put moisturiser underneath or not. I've also tried using different moisturisers and primers and still get the pilling.

Any recommendations, please?

I love Laura Mercier tinted moisturiser. It comes in lots of shades so maybe a trip to the shops when they are reopened to get colour matched.

TerrorWig · 09/04/2020 22:22

I've just bought a Korean one - Erborian. It's lovely. Really feels gorgeous on my skin, and evens it out beautifully. I have rosacea, it has a hair more coverage than a tinted moisturiser, but feels like a moisturiser when on. Haven't noticed any pilling.

It does come in a small size to test as the full size is pricey!

bubblesforlife · 10/04/2020 09:43

@TerrorWig I have never heard of this brand. It seems they don't have many shades.
I am like you, I have rosacea but I am also very pale. What colour do you wear?
Also why not the CC cream?
(Sorry about all the questions)

Terralee · 10/04/2020 10:32

I use Clinique smart repair serum, then Boots No7 protect & perfect spf15 day cream, then Boots No7 BB cream.
No pilling.
Although my skin is usually oily I did have some dry skin on my nose etc but find that using the serum soon got rid of that.

Chochito · 10/04/2020 10:42

Thanks, everyone! This is so helpful.

I have tried Erborian products, TerrorWig and really liked them.

Bubblesforlife They sell Erborian in Sephora.

Use Trinny London. I think it's called Bff

TheCanterburyWhales · 10/04/2020 17:02

Lots of beauty bloggers really rate Erborian. Misscha BBs and CCs are very good too. Korean stuff in general has a much wider paler colour palette so is great for mozzarella faces like me.

The pilling is silicones. I love P&P serums but find they make foundation pill terribly. Secret is to apply them and then wait before anything else. Primers are also heavily siliconed in general.

Chochito · 10/04/2020 17:12

Thanks TheCanterburyWhales . Does No. 7 moisturiser contain silicones?

How can I check for silicones in products? Are they listed as that or do they have other names?

Erborian is fab - I had run out of my usual Laura Mercier tinted moisturiser and it wasn't available a while back so I went into SpaceNK and asked them for something similar. They showed me NARS and the Erborian cream - there are only 2 shades and its white and blends into your skin giving it very natural coverage - great for days of lockdown and walks Grin

pazwaz70 · 10/04/2020 17:27

Which is better BB or CC cream?

Chochito · 10/04/2020 17:51

What are CC creams?

TerrorWig · 10/04/2020 19:38

@bubblesforlife I actually bought the anti redness bb cream, the bb cream and the cc cream. I like them all, but the cc cream is an adaptable one and I worry it adapts a little too dark for me. I bought both in Clair which I think is the lightest one.

This is me, bare faced, bb cream and then cc cream. No other make up on the bb cream one either.

Goddamn. Wrong pic. THIS is the bb cream one!

Personally I prefer a lighter foundation and a perfectly matched blusher, so if it all wears off then I’m not left with any obvious patches! I’m wearing Glossier cloud paint in Hush in the previous picture.

Ignore the slime pic Grin

(Also the blusher is Dusk not Hush!)

Marcelle golden glow illuminator £25ish from birchbox is the best bb cream.

Hairydogmummy · 10/04/2020 20:03

I love Origins Ginzing tinted moisturiser. It's one of those adapting ones. Looks greyish in the tube but gives beautiful natural result and ideal for if you've done a bit of a self tan cos it just adapts to the new shade. I get red cheeks with hormones sometimes and if I do, I add a tiny touch of green corrector just over the red bits. I use glossier stretch concealer for any remaining imperfections and under my eyes.

Greenvalleymama · 11/04/2020 08:11

I really love the Garnier BB cream, I’ve tried loads of others and keep going back to this one. Only three shades though.

Chochito · 11/04/2020 11:33

Thank you to everyone, you are all so kind and helpful. I really appreciate it.

Do any of you have dry skin?

Do you apply your bb cream over moisturiser, or how?

Another vote for Marcelle Golden Glow. I love it. Just trying to summon up the courage to buy it full size!

bubblesforlife · 11/04/2020 13:23

Oh thank you @TerrorWig , that's the Erborian brand you used?
Thanks for sharing, I'll certainly be checking out the BB cream (when we can again) thank you.
I struggle daily with my skin, so anything that actually works is welcome.

Gallade · 11/04/2020 15:37

@TerrorWig your hair is so nice!

I want to find a good BB cream too cos I don't want to wear foundation but need SOMETHING to cover my red patches. I currently use Stila 3 step correct but would like something more.

Hairydogmummy · 11/04/2020 16:19

I've just had a look at the Marcelle one...it does sound nice. I might try it for indoor days as doesn't look like it has an spf. If you have dry skin, OP I would def use a moisturiser first if you're going for a BB cream. I don't have dry skin but Emma hardie vit c cream is very moisturising and excellent for balancing skin tone.

bubblesforlife · 11/04/2020 17:10

I just ordered the Erborian BB in the shade Clair.
I took a guess on the colour, given how pale I am as Clair the lightest colour.

I'm constantly going around now when out for my daily walk with red, damaged skin and I am really embarrassed about it. I don't want to put make up on, so I hope this will be the answer finally. Thanks for the tips.

Gallade · 11/04/2020 20:41

where did you order it from @bubblesforlife I'm tempted by it.

bubblesforlife · 11/04/2020 20:52

I ordered the full size from Space NK.
I just love that store.
