Dress making advice

I want to take a pattern from my favourite dress so that I can make another out of some lovely fabric I've had lying around for a couple of years. Taking the dress and making a pattern is within my capabilities but altering that pattern to fit better is not. The dress has a round neckline that sits just below my collar bone, my chest is slightly concave so I have excess fabric, how can I alter the pattern so that it lies flat.

You could put two darts in running from the neckline towards the bust, or you may need to move the whole section slightly, by possibly cutting the pattern piece down the centre, adjusting, and sellotaping back together.

If that makes no sense I will draw a diagram.
What shape is the dress ?
